There's a whole lot of so-called "Republicans" who go along, too. The Dims can't enact their agenda on their own. They have help. Lots, and lots of help. The largest entitlement program since the (not so)Great Society (Medicare Part D) was passed by a majority Republican Congress and signed into law by a Republican POTUS. It now is over budget by about $150 billion/year and climbing. We're accumulating debt at a rate of $6 million/minute yet no one in our gubmint seems all that upset. There are a few who are paying lip service to the issue of our debt, but is anyone really serious? I just don't see it. If your household was bleeding money like that you'd be doing everything you could to stop the bleeding, wouldn't you? These nimrods can't even come up with 2% cuts when the budget has increased by 25% in the past two years!

Yes it would not be good to see a caliphate set up there, obviously. However, there are people with their own motives who want to scare us into believing this. Even Gadaffi is claiming this is headed up by Al Quaeda in a weak attempt at enlisting the West's support over his enemies. I'll have to see a little more proof than one witness claiming this, don't you agree? It will come out in the next few days. I don't doubt there are elements there, but I see no evidence that the Islamists are the dominant element.

In these societies, other than the religionists and the military- what are the "dominant" forces that want to hold power? I don't think Qadaffi sent a lot of students to western universities to study Constitutional law, or his military officers to West Point to study civilian-military roles in a democracy. It's not like the CIA has been supporting a “free libya” group of educated western-leaning dissidents for the past 40 - or 2- years, is it? Who exactly has been groomed to takeover

Any Libyan (or any community organizers in Libya) with military organization and leadership skills probably got them fighting alongside or in training camps run by anti-American/anti-Western bad guys sometime over the past 3 decades. and islamic extremism is the common veneer that holds these guys together

I think Cameron may have backed off his calls for war based on Brit asessment that what may follow Qadaffis ouster is either unknown or will be worse for western interests

and what we should always be willing to send Americans to die for is our own western interests, long term or short term. Not “Libyan revolution”.

The statists / globalists / crony capitalists / fascists who are aggressively pushing us all to a New World Order under which ever aspect of our lives will be regulated by a central authority 'for our own good' have a lot in common with an Islamic theocracy in their goals and methods. They both want us to revert back to the middle ages where the elite get 99.99% of the stuff and the peons who survive scrabble over what's left. IMHO we have been moving into a fascist model in which we we are allowed to retain the illusion of private ownership and freedom.

I'm not questioning the source. I'm saying that within the same story it quotes one source saying Islamists are taking over and it quotes another source saying that's not true. The reasoning for the person saying that's not true is legit. Because Gadaffi wants to scare the west. He's doing it in his own interviews saying that the revolutionaries are Al Queada.

Lets remember that all the things you are saying about these revolutionaries could have been said about Iraq's people. They were anti western during Sadaams' reign. They were never trained in our military schools etc... Yet, they wanted democracy and they have democracy. Imperfect though it may be.
