Regulation: The head of the Environmental Protection Agency's office of air and radiation admits she doesn't know how much carbon dioxide is in the atmosphere. How can someone so ignorant have such an important job?
It's not like Gina McCarthy has no experience in environmental policy. Her EPA bio says she's been commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and "worked at both the state and local levels on critical environmental issues."
McCarthy even "has extensive experience with the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, the nation's first market-based greenhouse gas cap-and-trade system," as well as a "master of science in environmental health engineering and planning and policy from Tufts University."
Yet when Rep. Joe Barton, a Texas Republican, asked McCarthy on Tuesday during a House hearing if she knew what the atmospheric CO2 level was, she admitted that she didn't, reports Steven Milloy of junkscience.com.
This is knowledge that even the after-hours cleanup crew at the EPA building should have. That the person who could be considered America's top greenhouse gas regulator couldn't answer the question is inexcusable.

I bet she could tell you how much the fine is for emitting too much......
The EPA is a joke. It need to be defended. They can somehow calculate how a incandescent light bulb, SUV or power plant will kill us all with C02 emissions, but have no clue what those are in total.
I hope you meant defunded, not defended.;^)
And the “science” courses they are required to take are all AlGore approved.
Kinda like Journalism courses.......
In other words, a scientific illiterate, much reminiscent of the equally incompetent "public intellectuals" blindly running the withering and dying European union.
Yes, defunded.
Talking about taping geothermal energy Al Gore last year said the earth’s core was “several million degrees.” It’s 5,000 to 7,000 degrees.
Whole lot of ol’gals in the DC area were, up until last year, still bragging how they’d been “taught” personally by the Algore ~ then Tipper dumped him and that stuff disappeared.
Bet she watches the Gore schlockumentary every weekend.
Re: #8
Most eloquently stated!
Liberals don’t think. They feel. She doesn’t need any factual scientific data in order to FEEL C02 is a dangerous pollutant.
This is the mind of a liberal. That is why you can’t reason with them. Logic doesn’t apply. Once they have entrenched feelings, no flood of contrary facts can ever sway them. Their closed minds are impenetrable.
Facts don’t matter. Science doesn’t matter. All that matters is that she’s a liberal and she means well.
Good intentions, if they are liberal intentions, are sufficient. Good results are not required.
This should definitely be plural.
Sorry [/s], we ran out of "other people's money" about 30 years ago.
The EPA is a joke. It need to be defended.
I will never defend them, maybe defund them.
A joke, they are not. They are part of the arrogant, out of control government that is destroying lives of Americans all across America.
They entered the county in which I live 27 years ago, to administer a 27 square mile Superfund Site. Our population then was about 23,000. Our population today is just under 13,000. Until the epa is gone, there is no hope of recovering.
They, the epa, recently won nearly $500,000,000 (yes, that is 1/2 billion dollars) in a bankruptcy lawsuit against a company named Asarco ... American Smelting and Refining Co. That money has been "invested." With the interest on it, they want to remain in our county, "cleaning it up," for, in their words (in a ROD, or Record of Decision) for "50 to 90 years."
By that time, there will be no more population left in this, one of the most productive mining communities in America. All gone, closed down, lights out, moved away.
Of all they are--destructive, nasty, overbearing, brutish, government thugs--they are not a joke. They are deadly serious.
