Government e-mails reveal plot to stall budget repair bill (FleeBaggers)

Before protesters stormed the capitol, the mayor of the city of Madison tried to pull a fast one. The governor's budget repair bill was on the fast track, and Madison Mayor Dave Ciesliewicz was racing against the clock to pass new union contracts first.

E-mails obtained by the FOX6 Investigators show that the mayor enlisted the help of State Senator Mark Miller. They both tried to convince the Secretary of State to hold up the bill by taking the maximum 10 days allowed by law before publishing the bill.

They were trying to buy some time so they could ratify new contracts to protect workers from benefit cuts. Citizens for Responsible Government Rep. Chris Kliesmet says, "This suggests, and this is a harsh word, collusion. There is collusion between some politicians and public sector employee unions. Period."

Kliesmet says collective bargaining require that there be two sides. It is impossible to have collective bargaining with only one side."

Mayor Ciesliewicz says, "We ARE on the same side." The mayor admits they rushed contracts, but says the city negotiated in good faith. "That's the way collective bargaining works. It ought to be a negotiation, but at the end of the day we want to have good working relationships between labor and management here in Madison."

According to the e-mails, Secretary of State Doug La Follette declined to delay publication of the law, but it all became a moot point when Senator Democrats fled the state to block the bill.

Read the e-mails between Senate Minority Leader Mike Miller and Madison Mayor Dave Ciesliewicz. It appears the 14 Senators orchestrated their trip to Illinois to buy time for unions all over the state to work out new deals.

State Senator Mark Miller has yet to comment on this story.

Having been to the Capitol two weeks ago for the Tea Party rally, it was funny to watch the protestors with their Hitler signs, target on Walker signed, Buttholes for Billionaires signs, etc. They walked around chanting 'This is what Democracy looks like'....Reading this story exposes exactly how the union thugs and their bought and paid for Democrat elected officials view democracy. The idea that anything close to 'collective bargaining' exists is a joke. The emails reveal that the bargaining that goes on is 'collusive bargaining' where the union and the officials they elected collude to screw the taxpayers.

My new mantra is "When the educated class (teachers) become part of the entitlement society, our country is doomed" If Gov Walker does not prevail ans stop this collusive bargaining, our state is doomed.

Question for you: If the Dems don’t return, and Walker has to layoff thousands, will those layoffs be governed by the EXISTING CB agreement, which I assume protects seniority..and thus will result in last hired first fired? You’re forced to keep the highest paid, and no chance to keep the best..

Isn’t Coolidge the president that forecasted all this corruption.

Never will get to the 1/3 Americans that are so ignorant they still believe the Sun revolves around the Earth. Most of them will not take a cruise since they believe they will fall off the edge of the Earth. But lets keep trying.

Along the same lines, it is humorous to watch the students protesting for CB when it will prevent qualified graduates from replacing incompetent government workers.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. . .

Yes the existing collective bargaining agreement takes precedence.

The interesting thing is even when the budget repair bill passes, it does not take affect until the existing collective bargaining expires. So in the 700+ school districts, 72 counties, 1000+ cities, towns, villages, UW system, technical colleges, etc, etc, etc. the impact of the bill will be felt at different times.

The local tech college MATC just passed a FOUR year contract with NO cost pension, and no changes to health plan. The conctract did not expire till June 2011, but they rushed it through to screw the taxpayers one last time.
