Libyan state TV has aired footage of three detained Dutch marines who were captured along with their helicopter by forces loyal to leader Moammar Kadafi near the Kadafi-stronghold of Sirte on Sunday as they reportedly were carrying out a mission to evacuate two Europeans.
The Dutch Defense Ministry insists the crew was simpy carrying out a "consular evacuation" -- a claim that Libya seems to find dubious.
On Friday, Libya's Al-Jamahiriyah TV broadcast a video report showing the helicopter crew of three, including one woman, sitting in a room.

who’s running their country? Jimmy Carter?
The union will not like this. I doubt it is in their contract.
Man you guys are fast.
We need to bring our military home and put them on our borders. God only knows what kind of people and bombs have come across all ready. Watching the news last night, the drug cartels are now threatening ranchers along the Texas borders to get off their own land or be killed. This is going to affect our food production, not to mention it’s just not right. Do that and drill baby drill, build a couple or more refineries and will be good to go.
I seem to recall the Dutch military is unionized. Perhaps when the union thugs are done in Wisconsin they could stage a big protest in Tripoli.
Time spent in captivity is time and a half, double on Saturdays, and Triple on Sundays. Also, I notice that these union brothers and sisters have been stripped of their hairnets in clear violation of our contract.
Furthermore, these Dutch folk are peace-keepers, not fighters and are following in their tradition of witnessing massacres as they did in Bosnia. (That unit is out on 100% disability for PTSD).
So keep your capitalist thoughts to yourself.
Here is the latest from AOL News. I also heard that Kaddafi has beefed up border security at the Tunisian boarder and it is getting much harder to get across. Also an air attack on a nearby (to Tripoli) was successfully repelled by the rebels. This leads me to the question, are his pilots obeying orders to attack, but obeying their mullah by missing?
very appreciative of the updates.
Good question. But as long as the mercenaries are on the payroll people will be getting killed. As for the Dutch personnel. They may be held captive for a long time if this drags out.
Naw, he’s busy running ours.
