Jon Ralston is a piece of crap, despite this article. He and Steve Sebelius blackballed my book on Harry Reid, which also goes into some of Rory’s baloney (Table Mountain Indian Casino scam).

You have cojones to write about Harry Reid. You changed my opinion of him.....his early years. Would you at least agree that he has an image of having been cleaner early on in the 1970s and 1980s?

Unless things start turning very badly for Rory’s father, I doubt the land deals will ever be scrutinized. But we can hope...
Good side to side comparison.
In the movie, the Reid character was no straight shooting Mormon, that’s for sure. I always wondered how true this was.
And remember, this was back in 1995 when Harry Reid was not the Senate minority or majority leader.
Well, the movie portrayed him as anything but a straight shooter. Harry Reid has been dirty a long, long time, as the movie(1995) portrayed him in an event that took place in 1980. Always wondered how close to the mark the movie was.
It certainly didn’t hurt Reid politically.
The movie is very accurate in it’s depictions of events back then. Frank Rosenthal was alive and well and used his real life experiences for the tale. Even some of the crazier events in the film were real. Here is an interesting fact check of the movie vs real life. There is no reason to believe Reid as anything other than another corrupt public official back then. How else would he have amassed such wealth on a Gov’t salary?

I worked with the guy who was his original campaign manager. He said Harry was always true to his wife and naive about te dark side. Yet, this manager picks up bags of cash for Harry from pimp Joe Conforte in the 70s. I also know Harry was at the Ranch in the late 70s. I know there are other women (Cookie). I know a lot of things don’t add up. I know Joe Conforte wanted to build a mega casino in the late 70s and would have needed juice to get by gaming, which was also when Harry was appointed chairman of the gaming commission.
Harry had a VERY twisted childhood. I think there are two Harry Reid’s.
Harry Reid’s wife is Jewish born. I think I read the family celebrated Christmas .......then Hanukkah with her parents. Having a Jewish wife will get you an “in” with Jewish gangsters
By Jewish law his children are Jewish due to having a Jewish mother.

I think Harry’s parents were atheist Jewish, they worshipped FDR. His mother was apparently ok, but the father was at least a drunk and maybe a perve. There are lots of hints of abuse. It is hard to go there though.
It was only in high school that Harry went Mormon. That didn’t stop him from taking pickups of booze out on his early campaigns.
