Arizona Immigration SB 1611 Prompts Student Walkout
Fox News Latino ^ | March 04, 2011 | Fox News Latino

Students from several area high schools walked out of class and walked to Arizona's State Capitol Friday morning.

The students are protesting SB 1611, which makes numerous changes to immigration law.

"This state legislature continues to introduce divisive legislation and now our students are scared, threatened and are taking desperate actions by walking out of class to march to the State Capitol," said Sen. Steve Gallardo. "SB1611 is unconstitutional and is nothing, but politicking."

SB1611 was passed by the Senate Appropriations Committee on February 23 and hasn't been heard by the full Senate.

"The Republican majority is wasting the voters' time with out-of-touch legislation that is not the priority of Arizonans who want quality education, work and health care for their families," said Gallardo. "This legislation does nothing, but scare our children and put them in dangerous situations."

As an educator, I’ve lived through similar walkouts, staged by adults...usually the students have no clue as to why they are ‘walking out’ they simply are happy to get out of school/class for a while.

Illegal aliens shouldn’t be in our high schools in the first place!

The other day I channel surfed across a really awful movie about a Canadian teenager who believed he was the reincarnation of Trotsky. He leads a high-school walkout, and of course becomes disillusioned when the kids only want to play frisbee, flirt with the opposite sex, and text each other once they're out of the building.

IOW the bill protects the education of LEGAL students by preventing ILLEGAL ALIENS from taking those seats.

You are correct.

And you have hit upon the main reason why adults (or at any rate, union members over the age of 21) using underage students as their own personal protestors is such a reprehensible practice.

...movie about a Canadian teenager who believed he was the reincarnation of Trotsky

So then, the movie was a critique of the Canadian mental health system?

More likely a critique of the National Film Board of Canada and public subsidies for crappy movies

The stupidity of Arizona’s secondary schoolers is only matched by their fellows who attend Arizona’s feckless universities.

They already woke up and these little parasites best action is a protest. The top politicians are GOP, and as long as they pass the laws, that’s pretty much it for them.

Illegals are certain Democratic voters when they hit 18, the Liberals know that and can see Demographic trends.

The folks will be socialists no matter what Republicans do. Our future will be socialist. These people have no clue what America is or what freedom is or why America was a good place for their parents to break into.

“Diversity” has guarenteed a socialist education and that is why the border will not be closed until they are the majority. They have been taught that freedom is socialism -”social justice” - and equality is skin deep tribal pride and preferences. Holder is presenting the diversity meaning of equality before the law - with the protection of the race tribe’s crime.

Will we still consider each person on merit, or eventually realize we need to protect our own “tribe” or be eliminated by the hordes of non-assimilated massses.

But without public subsidies we would have to rely solely on the hollywood elite and wacked out euro-trash wannabes for our crappy movies...
