LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Republican Sen. John Ensign of Nevada, damaged politically and facing a Senate ethics investigation over an extramarital affair, said Monday he won't seek re-election next year.
Ensign, who is under investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee, said he decided last week against seeking a third term because he was worried about the effect of a campaign on his family.

Rory probably already jockying for position here.
Fine, but I find this one a bit worrisome, considering the direction Nevada has taken recently.
Good-BAH
Hey 'Rats: shove your f*****g hypocrisy up your collective a$$es.
The Senate Ethics Committee ( an oymoron in itself)
chaired by Barbara Boxer (just a plain moron, herself)
I hope that Congressman Dean Heller will run for the U.S. Senate and that Sharon Angle will run for his congressional seat. His congressional experience would help him win. Sen. Ensign was a congressman, and Sen. Reid was a congressman.
Oh, I have an idea, let’s run Sharron Angle again...not.
The Republicans will just have to run someone with more statewide appeal than Sharon Angle. She was one of the weakest possible candidates we could have run against Reid. I've got to believe we have some better contenders than Angle to run for this seat in order to retain it.
Wow! He was saying te opposite just a week ago! I guess this means Heller vs Bezerkly. We would only be too lucky if Rory tried again.
Ensign is filthy. You could smell this announcement coming a couple of months ago when he voted with the rats to sodomize the US military, then refused to offer an explanation for his vote. As I recall, he sheepishly ducked out of the chamber after that vote. You knew then that somebody had something on him.
On the one hand, good for Ensign to bail out rather than work from a compromised position.
On the other hand, good riddance.
I would support Danny Tarkanian.
Ensign was badly damaged from his scandal and the odds are better to keep the seat out of the Democrats’ hands without him as the nominee. Heller is the best hope to keep the seat and this move has been telegraphed for awhile.
