Rep. Peter King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is about to convene hearings whose premise offends our nation's founding ideals and whose targets are law-abiding members of a religious minority. King has decided to investigate Islam.
A Republican from Long Island in his 10th term, King seems untroubled that the freedoms of religion and association are guaranteed by the Constitution. His public exercise in Islamophobia, scheduled to begin Thursday, can do no good - and much harm.
The legitimate-sounding goal of this exercise, King explained Sunday on CNN, is to investigate "self-radicalization going on within the Muslim community" and the threat of homegrown Islamic terrorism. Who doesn't want to uncover al-Qaeda sleeper cells? Who doesn't want to do everything that is possible - and legal - to prevent terrorist attacks?
But King further alleges that Muslim Americans have failed to demonstrate "sufficient cooperation" with law enforcement in uncovering potential terrorist plots. With this libel, King casts doubt on the loyalties of millions of Americans solely because of their faith. This is religious persecution - and it's un-American and wrong.

Irrational?!! Is he crazy? We have line of dead bodies from New York City to Fort Hood Texas which act as a visible testament to just how rational a fear of Islam is. It’s certainly not that fear of Islam is irrational, it’s that failure to fear Islam is delusionl.
I sent Rep. King a short email of encouragement.
hmmm lets see what’s happened lately;
I. 1 alleged koran defaced in Ethiopia
II. One Ethiopian Christian (at least) murdered,
III. 59 - FIFTY-NINE - or more Ethiopian churches burned

And Ethiopia is a nominally “Christian” nation?
I know that this was not a US incident, but in 10 more years.......
People are so afraid of being politically incorrect that they refuse to read or listen to the Islamists in their own words. These guys are pretty direct (the dudes in Mid-East & Pakistan etc) in what their beliefs and world vision are. Kings needs to investigate some areas. The left would have you think that there will be a general pogrom of all Muslims and that storm troopers will be plowing into every Muslims home, store or mosque. There is a group in upstate NY that has a compound called Islamville (and they have a number of compounds throughout the US). It is known they are armed, but no one has the BALZ to search these places—afraid that it might be a WACO scenario. Janet Reno was a putz, I am sure that this could be done in a more constitutional manner...except that Holder might give these dudes the heads up before the warrant gets signed.
We need to remember that there are at least TWO definitions of “peace.”
1. The absence of war or conflict. This is the one embraced by most free peoples of the world.
2. The absence of RESISTANCE to aggression, attack or policies, doctrines and ideologies with which one disagrees. This is the one held by most western liberals, communists (now called “progressives”) and the islamofascists.
If the second definition prevails, it invariably leads to the third and final “peace” for the losers — that of the beheading sword, firing squad, bullet behind the ear, gas chamber and on to the graveyard or lime pit.
Are there irrational fears of Islam? I can’t think of anything that this pseudo-religion does that is positive so any fear of it is justified.
Remember OK City bombing? We never heard about ideology, associations, books Tim McVeigh was reading, etc, (sarcasm)

This Eugene Robinson guy is getting on my nerves. He’s the first openly gay Episcopal Bishop, big deal. It doesn’t make him an expert on everything.
