Conservative hidden camera sting targets NPR (yellow journalism)
CBS News? ^ | March 8, 2011 | Brian Montopoli

Posted on 03/08/2011 12:57:00 PM PST by Ben Mugged

Conservative activist James O'Keefe, whose deceptively edited hidden camera videos have made him a star on the right, is out with a new video targeting National Public Radio executive Ron Schiller - and by extension NPR itself.

The video purports to show Schiller speaking to a pair of men posing as representatives of a phony Muslim group called seeking to give $5 million to NPR. The men tell Schiller they are affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamist political movement.

It shows Schiller stating that the Republican Party and the Tea Party is "fanatically involved in people's personal lives and very fundamental Christian - and I wouldn't even call it Christian. It's this weird evangelical kind of move."

I’ve read several stories from the MSM today, and it’s amazing how the lib journ-o-lists are trying to rally around Schiller and NPR by portraying O’Keefe as the villain. The snark and outrage are clearly palpable, and the stories are so similar that it’s apparent that another Journolist exists somewhere from which the MSM is drawing the talking points.

No kidding!!! I thought, “Where are the quotation marks? Aren’t proper names supposed to be capitalized? Are the only people CBS can find to spew their ridiculous line of crap illiterate 4th graders? Oh wait, my 4th graders knew better than that!”

When CBS does undercover stings for 60 minutes it is groundbreaking, bold, risky, heroic, the only way to get the truth, etc. The minute someone turns the tables on them and uses the same tactics it is yellow journalism. Priceless.

Not one mention of the liberal blogger who called Walker pretending to be Koch?

Actually that did get in the last sentence, although that might have been added. That's one problem with the internet is the record quickly disappears and it is hard to nail down and official version. With newspapers or TV there is an official public version which can be recorded and referenced..

the latest example of an emerging trend: Partisans using false identities and hidden cameras to embarrass their opposition and score ideological points.

I remember when the media used to call this investigative journalism. How many network stories were about undercover reports sneaking in somewhere and recording the "seedy underside" of some business or politician?

I gotta say that I can understand the NPR guy pandering to the "Arab" for $5 mil much more than I can understand the ACORN folks helping some pimp and his prostitute.

This strikes me much more like the ABSCAM thing which brought down Senator Pete Williams (whom I was no fan of). Entrapment is entrapment. It's one thing to go looking for dirty money and it's another thing to think we would all turn it down when it came looking for us.

Getting news from NPR is intellectually equivalent to getting science from Al Gore.

So NPR thinks:
Tea Party = racist
Muslim Brotherhood <> racist

It would be comical if it were not true.

entrapment is when a democrat candidate whose initials are B.O. lies to the electorate, they get duped because they assume he’s telling the truth and he becomes the worst nightmare ever to sit in the White House.

Here is the entire two hour video:

Judge for Yourself - NPR's Ron Schiller

"..Project Veritas, in order to offer transparency in reporting, has released the full two-hour video later today related to Part 1 of our NPR Investigation.

The video, which is largely the raw video and audio of the entire conversation with NPR Foundation's President Ron Schiller, does contain one brief section in which the audio is redacted in order to ensure the safety of an NPR overseas correspondent..."

Brian Montopoli is a CBS blog monkey flinging scat.
