Ex-porn star, loses teaching gig in St. Louis, after student discovers her X-rated past

A St. Louis high school student is getting an "A" from authorities after discovering a teacher's X-rated past.

Tera Myers, 38, was put on administrative leave at Parkway North High School this week after a student inquired about pornographic films Myers starred in during the 1990s.

The science teacher decided to leave the school "out of respect for her privacy and that of her family," Paul Tandy, spokesman for the school district told the Daily News. "She was concerned about the impact it would have in the building."

Officials didn't know about Myers' past, which included a suspension five years ago from a Paducah, Ky., school for her role in the adult films.

While in Kentucky, Myers taught under a different name, Tericka Dye.

In 2006, the former porn star spoke to several media outlets and even made an appearance on "Dr. Phil," arguing she deserved to get her job back and that she had made the biggest mistake of her life.

"Anybody who has been in my classroom could tell you how much I love teaching and how much I love these students, and that should be what matters more than anything in my past," she said in May 2006.

Myers, whose stage name is Rikki Andersin, said she made the movies when she was living in California, working as an exotic dancer to earn desperately needed cash.

Because Myers' role in the adult films wasn't illegal, her pornographic past didn't show up during a background check.

The teacher, who has been at the school for four years, will be paid through the end of the school year but will not be returning in the fall.

"We're surprised, very surprised," said Tandy. "At the same time we feel for her and her family. We do believe she has tried to move on with her life... Unfortunately, even though it happened 15 years ago, [the video] is still there."

Unfortunately, there are things that you may do in your youth that will affect your entire life. This is one of those cases. I do feel sorry for her in a way but I wouldn’t have any respect for her as a teacher. Her past will continue to haunt her unless she chooses another type of career. IMHO

If she’s not currently in porn and not allowing students to have sex in her classroom like some other teachers I don’t understand what the problem is? Are we so beyond mistakes from the past that she can never work again?

The whole point of forgiveness is that God sent his only Son to save us from our sin so we can’t allow God to forgive others?

Just sad.

She should have lured a five year old boy to her house and killed him. There are people out there that can always find “forgiveness” and “reform” for those kinds of crimes. Porno on the other hand is apparently unforgivable.

I am also not getting why she was fired. Was she doing a good job teaching? Did she have any disciplinary issues? Did she have a good grasp of the curriculum? To me those seem far more pertinent than what she did 15 years ago, and I am sure that if all had to state a list of the dumb things they did in their past that a number (including some very 'holy' types) would probably say things that made a porno flick pale a bit.

As for what you raised 'unforgivable' sins ...I was having a discussion with a colleague about that some time back. In many churches, a person can stand up and say that he was suffering from a drug addition, or a gambling problem, or used to steal but wants to mend his ways, etc etc etc. But dare he stand up and say he cheats on his wife and needs help, or has a porn addiction, or some other sexual vice. Suddenly, the same congregation who were falling over each other trying to embrace the heroin addict, end up looking like the guy's (say cheating on his wife) issue is highly contagious and it will infect all the rest of the men in the congregation. Even worse if it is a woman who stands up (this really glitzy country club that was seeking me as a member bent over backwards telling me how it did not allow single women, and when I asked because they were trying to avoid the temptation of married men falling for them. That alone was the reason I decided to opt for another club who had members that were human beings rather than bovines that couldn't control themselves around single women and thus require kindergarten rules).

Anyways, why was she fired? I can understand a school may have the right to fire/hire who they want (and that is fine with me), but why was she fired?

There are, by the way, a lot of very good people who have done some very bad things in the past. Looking at the Bible, Saul (before his encounter with Christ on the road to Damascus, and becoming Paul) was not a very nice chap. In fact, he was far worse than any porn star, and had blood on his hands. I fear that this lady should have been a heroin addict instead ...she would have found acceptance.

I seem to recall a narrative in the Bible where, as a group of men were about to stone a woman for her sexual sins, a certain Man we all owe a lot to, came forth and started writing in the dirt with a stick, asking he without sin to cast the first stone.

While my preferred answer would be “neither”, if forced to make a choice between my child being taught by:

- an anti-American liberal, homosexual activist

or

- a CURRENT porn actress

I would choose the porn actress.

Sadly the current administrations of most schools will protect kids from porn stars, while welcoming with open arms anti-American, liberal, homosexual activists.
