...................I wonder how Texans would have handled this situation a 100 years ago?.....................

In a small south Texas town named Goliad, there is a large old oak tree in the town square, right next to the town offices and courthouse.

The old tree is called the hanging tree, as since the mid 1800’s as soon as the guilty verdict was written, the prisioner was marched out to the hanging tree.

Justice was served within ten minutes of a verdict!

Same thing as the place I grew up at. Matter of fact, that tree is on the property I inherited as my part of the farm. It is right on the side of the Old San Antonio Trail. The trunk is over 6 feet in diameter. Less than 100 years ago, every one of the perps would have been strung up on that or a nearby tree.
