No...they started to rise about two years ago...they are skyrocketing now.
Exactly right. This is nothing new, food prices have been rising radiply for some time. And yet, the claim is there is no inflation but they must not include food and gasoline in those numbers because those two things are always through the roof. It's the same with unemployment numbers, they stop counting people who have been out of work a long time and say they have stopped looking but that's not true, they just can't find anything. Higher fuel prices mean higher cost of everything but they will skew the numbers to say everything is normal, inflation is under control, etc.
I got a Big Mac for the first time in ages, it had shrunk in size considerably since the last time I had one. Shape of things to come.
Aldis is a great place to shop, they generally have the best values around. Unfortunately, the closest one to where I currently live is about 1.5 hours away.

Bacon and that’s it.
I cut it up in 2 inch pieces, I fry it up, put in hot sanitized jars, process it- pressure canner 12 l.b.s for 75 minutes. (I use half pints). I wipe the rims of the jars with wet vinegar towel, to cut any grease residue that might keep the jars from sealing. That’s it, don’t put anything in it. Just the bacon.
There will be a small amount of liquid and fat in the jar.
The more you fry it, the crisper it will be after processing. It of course continues to cook in the jar. And yes, it turns out as crispy fried bacon browns right in the jar.
Simply warm up before eating it...it’s already cooked.
And yes, if you check USDA sites, it does tell you how to process meats in STRIPS...
You have this living thing down right good work.
Nice looking home, where in WV are you? I’m in Thomas.
None.
You guessed it, food and fuel.
You guessed poorly.
The so-called core rate of inflation, which excludes food and energy prices

CPI-U, ALL ITEMS.
The core rate EXCLUDES food and energy. What do you have an issue with?
That is a FACT!
CPI-U includes everything.
What do you have an issue with?
The silly claim that the government is trying to fool people by releasing a number that excludes food and energy.
This may sound crass, but why buy name brand TP? By the TP with the “bunny” on it - it’s a Wal-Mart brand (Great Value), but it’s soft, strong, and cheaper than name brand.
Great Value: Ultra Strong Bathroom Tissue, 12 Ct
Have been. Got home from work yesterday and saw three cases of canned crushed tomatoes. Wife said she caught them on sale for 79 cents each, and these are large cans, not regular sized.
When I first walked in and saw the cases I told her, "I see you've been doing a lot canning today." She said, "Yep and I plan on canning some more tomorrow." I guess it's our little joke.
The CORE rate (you know, the one which excludes food and energy) is often cited by the talking heads on TV and the elites in the media.
What world do you live in where the CORE rate is never used? I ALWAYS hear it referred to.
up in the eastern panhandle, border of hardy and hampshire counties...little place called Rio...
The Big Boo
No. The BLS publishes thousands of CPI indexes each month, including the headline All Items CPI for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) and the
CPI-U for All Items Less Food and Energy. The latter series, widely referred to as the "core" CPI, is closely watched by many economic analysts and policymakers under the belief that food and energy prices are volatile and are subject to price shocks that cannot be damped through monetary policy.
However, all consumer goods and services, including food and energy, are represented in the headline CPI.

We are both right.
But don't quit your day job.
Check this out from the link in post #70.
A report from the Labor Department on Thursday showed consumer prices rose by 0.4 percent in each of the past two months or a 4 percent annual rate over the last quarter fed by the biggest gains in food prices in two years and surging energy prices.
Does that sound like the Labor Department is excluding food and energy? Hiding food and energy?
What world do you live in where the CORE rate is never used?
Do you know what the core rate is used for?
No Kidding!! Have you seen a Reeses Cup lately? Half the package is empty. Coffee, yogurt, bread slices, etc.
