F-22s Could Be Assigned To Libyan Operation
Aviation Week ^ | March 9, 2011 | David A. Fulghum

Posted on 03/09/2011 5:39:10 AM PST by EnjoyingLife

"The Air Force has significant excess capacity for the Libya mission," the veteran fighter pilot says. "It is the perfect scenario for the F-22 and F-16CJ Wild Weasels that are currently not engaged in Afghanistan. The Air Force's bread-and-butter mission is to take down sophisticated, integrated air defense systems, attack air bases to render them unusable, destroy any radars that emit, and clear the skies of any aircraft in flight. After an intense, 24-48-hr. campaign, enforcing the no-fly zone is a routine operation."

Because assigning our high tech, top of the line, most expensive assets, worked out so well for us in Serbia...

How about waiting for Congress to declare war on Libya before we go invading their country? Anyone??

All it takes is for Obama to have a spine and be able to make a decision without punting it to another body like the UNSC.

IOW, it won’t happen.

Two questions:

How much is this going to cost?

Why do we care if muzzies kill each other?

Just Say No to Libya or is it Libiya (Odumbo’s spelling).

No way no how!. It is an Arab problem. Let the Muslims fight it out. This is what the Arabs want suck the US in it.

Blame the West (US) that it is killing more and more Muslims for Oil. This is part of the religious fundamentalism that will fuel its angry rhetoric.

Look Libya has gotten all its military appartus from Russia. The majority of the vehicles are Mitsubishi’s. Italy has lots of business enterprises there too. The UK is invested there too France too. Let them do it

The Odumbo Administration had agreed to the 100 Armored Vehicles to Libya, the order has been rescinded by the US House.
The last I read gates said No way.

Where are the aircraft of the saudi air force ?

Where are the saudi pilots trained here in the USA ?

Where's the part in my Constitution that says it's OK to conduct acts of terrorism on foreign soil ?

Let's just announce they are there.
If the Libyans claim they don't see em, that will prove how good they are.

I thought Obama told Qadaffy to leave NOW? Hmm.

Anyone got one of those “No war for oil bumper stickers” I can borrow.

What “acts of terrorism” do you refer to? Be specific.

All week long Europe has been whining that we need to do something. Watch them shut up when we ask to base assets in one of their countries.

Agreed! Is anyone in leadership not certifiably insane anymore? I'd recommend a sortie of 25 B52s loaded to max payload capacity, with a simple and elegant "shampoo bottle" strategy, i.e. "repeat as needed." :)

We need to let the democrats know that this in not funded and every dollar it costs will be pulled from the budget for running the EPA.

I agree. Send in the BUFFs and reduce Tripoli to dust.

No to F-22s. Please.
