Peter King Supported the IRA Before Hunting for Terrorists
National Journal ^ | March 9, 2011 | Elspeth Reeve

Posted on 03/09/2011 1:50:08 PM PST by WilliamIII

Before Rep. Peter King was holding hearings into why American Muslims aren't doing enough to stop terrorism, he was cheering on the IRA and absolving them of "moral blame" for their terrorism. In the 1980s and 1990s, King unequivocally supported the militant Northern Irish group despite its history of killing civilians, speaking at protests staged by Noraid, which the U.S. government claimed funneled guns and money to the IRA.

Wow. The Lamestream really has King here.

From the Slimes piece

In later years, by all accounts, Mr. King became an important go-between in talks that led to peace in Northern Ireland, drawing on his personal contacts with leaders of I.R.A.’s political wing, Sinn Fein, and winning plaudits from both Bill Clinton and Tony Blair, the former president and the British prime minister.

Really shows what a pro terrorism guy King was. Peace deals! How destructive. That peace is something that everyone thought unattainable at the time. He did good work here. It has little relevance to a post 911 world where we have an outside invader trying to destroy us from within. If anyone remembers, the Brits were real scumbags in that issue as well. They threw whole families in jail just on suspicions and had their fair share of terrible actions. It is hard to blame King for choosing the IRA's side here.

You’re just biased. First, we need to know if King has any outstanding parking tickets - and what he plans on doing about them.

The left is becoming so predictable...

They grow more pathetic as America realizes the scum they are, as they lose power, and as America kicks them to the trash heap of history...

Homosexual sex, Abortion, and socialism -what noble causes these leftists pursue -no one is fooled.

LMAO!!!!!

It would have been the 70s and 80s. The 90s being a stretch, right? Has King been there that long?

muslim terrorism is different it is on a international scale USA, Spain, Germany, Israel, Philippines.

The IRA was limited to (correct me if I am wrong) The UK.

They just want to make another issue of something that has died out.

First they ban smoking in Irish pubs, then grant honorary knighthood to a murdering pig that never understood the concept of honor. Way to go, England.

Bill Ayers and his wife are terrorists and Obama supports them, when I see an article from this group on that issue I may take the time to read this article. Until then, GO KING

The liberals have an ax to grind the poor little muzzies will lose out and Islamofascism will come to an abrupt end.

It's a character assasination attempt.

Firstly, King is correct: there is not much of a parallel between Islamo-fascists and IRA. They do use similar methods, and we abhor those in both cases, but IRA has a land dispute with Britain. Muslims attacking U.S., Indonesia, Pakistan or Argentina don't claim to have such as dispute.

Secondly and more importantly, people evolve. Did you notice that quites attributed to King end in... 1995? Why so?

Looks like the person who parted with him did so for some other reason and uses this garbage to get even.

If it’s true, is biased to report it?

It is not biased, it is diversionary.

It is the bright, shiny thing that is meant to capture your eye, when you should be focused on what is really important.

Did Peter King ever renounce his earlier support for the terrorist scum in the IRA? Supporting terrorists who planted bombs in cars, pubs and rubbish bins to blow up and shred civilians to pieces should have ended his political career in disgrace.

Just because he is on to something now regarding Islamic terrorism does not mean that his earlier actions should be forgiven, not least if there is no repentence....

Disgusting hit piece on Peter King intended to distract from his very relevant congressional hearings on the threat of American Muslim terrorism. This is a transparent smear but unfortunately, the MSM will focus on it like a laser and completely ignore the good King did in his dealings with the IRA and the British government. The left is nothing if not audacious and ready to pull out any card they can to derail King’s hearings, which is very telling. What is the left so afraid of?
