Enraged dad: I ‘will kill’ son’s murderer

A father still enraged over his young son’s death more than 35 years ago has vowed to kill the boy’s murderer if he is released several years early from his 40-year sentence, as now scheduled.

Michael Woodmansee, who was a neighbor of the Foreman family, killed Jason Foreman in South Kingstown in 1975 and hid the boy’s shellacked bones in his house for years.

A Department of Correction lawyer said Woodmansee earned time off for good behavior and it can be revoked only if he misbehaves.

Thanks for understanding civilization and the rule of law. Tough cases make bad law.

If this happened to my son, there would be an undisclosed bunker where this animal would have true justice slowly dispensed over a period of weeks.

This filthy animal tortured, ATE, and raped, the poor little boy.

I have a theory, but it’s altogether different. I simply don’t think there were any molesters back then. Or if there were, it was much easier to do it without getting caught.

One thing I do know: sexual molestation (or worse) was much less likely to be reported to the authorities back in the '40s and '50s.

Which would also tend to make vigilanteism a valid form of retribution.

Our society is largely incapable of any rational solution on how to deal with molesters because the moment the word is mentioned, people go into a hysterical breakdown and lose any common sense.

If the child is killed, the person should be sentenced to death the same as any other murderer. If not, they ought to be castrated (as I mentioned in this thread).

At the end of the day, vengeance is God’s to seek, not man’s. As proof of that, I consider how Jessica Lunsford’s killer died in prison of an extremely painful cancer. There was no need for him to be shanked by fellow inmates (not that that can happen on death row anyway) because the man upstairs can always be guaranteed to care of business.

There is a perverse incentive to kill if capital punishment is the sentence for crimes like molestation, rape, etc. If rape leads to capital punishment, then the rapist might as well kill his victim and give himself a better chance to avoid detection.

“Urging tribal blood feud justice is something that FReepers should understand is a step backwards away from civilization.”

And what we have today is.... “civilization”?

If that’s true, I’d rather go back to the bad old days of ropes and hangin’ trees. And I’m dead serious about it.

Your opinion may be different and I respect it. But I ain’t changin’ mine.

Rape has been punishable by death at different times, but as I said, I think only actual murder warrants capital punishment. Castration ought to work for the former.

Some will tell you that it’s ineffective and castrated men can still achieve an erection. True, but it can significantly reduce their sex drive by taking away the body’s main source of testosterone.

I think in olden times, people didn’t report it because they didn’t want to believe that such things could happen. It was still very common then to hold to the Victorian view of children as asexual beings, and so it seemed unimaginable that anyone could do anything sexual with them.

Ah, heck. I'm feeling generous.

You can have it all -- lutefisk and the brains and eggs.

If we wanted to practice eye-for-an-eye kind of justice, we might as well join Al Qaeda. We’re better and more civilized than the Muslim world, and there’s no need to stoop to their level.

This is exactly why a speedy death sentence needs to exist - this man could have begun to heal 35 years ago, but instead every day has been Hell-on-earth knowing the scum is still alive.

The only cruel and unusual punishment here has been dished out on the father.

Not quite.

They didn't want other people to know about it, as it brought shame on the family -- and scarred the daughter.

Seems strange today -- in a society that talks openly of rape and sexual deviancy. When teenagers are expected to engage in sexual activity.

But times were different.

And, if I'm correct about the vigelante aspect, there was no risk of any man breathing a word about what had happened -- or what had motivated it.

As I said, the justice system in the ‘60s and ‘70s was so liberal that the death penalty didn’t even exist for a couple of years. They couldn’t execute him back then even if they wanted to.

It stinks, but that was just the unfortunate way things worked then.

I will pray for the father who’s been living a life of Hell for the last 36 years. I would hate to see him a situation where the govt turned on him for the justice he felt personally compelled to administer.

Mercy to the cruel is cruelty to the innocent.

Rape used to be a capital crime. There is more rape now.

Murder should invariably be a capital crime. Executions are way underused, the so-called justice system coddles human debris that should be executed. There is much more that is wrong with the justice system, but the topic is death penalty stuff.

The canard that rapists would kill the ones they rape if the death penalty was attached to rape is mere supposition. IMO it would make rapists think very carefully and perhaps change their minds.

Desiring to see murderers and rapists executed is the sane, sensible and civilized viewpoint. Putting them in prison for a while and letting them out is the insane thing to do. Keeping them in prison for the rest of their lives is also insane, costs taxpayers tremendous $ and ruins their lives anyway. Executing helps exonerate them of of some of their heavy debt and gives them a chance to repent, which life in prison rarely does. Or if it does, they rarely use it well, prisons are rife with sodomy, drugs and other madmen. Very few in prison are changed for the better.

We need more executions, and not after 20 years of appeals.

In those days, if a rape occurred, it was considered a bad reflection on the entire family. People thought that you must have done something very wrong as parents if that happened to your child. Similarly, it was considered shameful to have a retarded child in the house and they were shipped off to mental institutions.

“Seems strange today — in a society that talks openly of rape and sexual deviancy. When teenagers are expected to engage in sexual activity.”

It’s extremely senseless to have a society that on one hand becomes hysterical over molestation, and on the other hand encourages you to have sex with everything that moves.

But the old days could be quite strange too. Among other things, the age of consent in the US was 10 until late in the 19th century when states began raising it.

“And, if I’m correct about the vigelante aspect, there was no risk of any man breathing a word about what had happened — or what had motivated it.”

Vigilante justice was common then because of the lack of a real law enforcement system. There were no state police then, and no FBI (among other things), usually just a local sheriff’s office. Thus when someone committed a crime, the local populace typically formed a lynch mob.

He shouldn't do it. Jesus said to forgive our enemies, and I can't even begin to imagine the reward for forgiving a person for a crime like that. I don't even know if I could forgive in this case, but I guess we just got to.

He didn't say to forgive other peoples' enemies. He would never think that a child murderer should not have been executed. No one should "forgive" wrong done to someone else. That is total misunderstanding. We should forgive harm to ourselves, but not harm to others.

Castration often does not work for child molesters. They really, really need killing.
