Men arrested in Arlington pastor’s death laughed and bragged, court papers say

ARLINGTON — Hours after the Rev. Clint Dobson was suffocated with a plastic bag and his assistant severely beaten inside NorthPointe Baptist Church, the suspects in his slaying laughed while watching a television news report about the case, according to court documents.

Steven Lawayne Nelson, 24, and Anthony Gregory Springs, 19, “began laughing and making inappropriate comments about Dobson’s death” Thursday, according to the arrest warrant affidavit for Nelson. “When confronted about this behavior, [Springs] produced an item he claimed belonged to Dobson.”

The boasting that evening at a friend’s house was a turning point in the fast-moving investigation into the slaying of Dobson, 28, and the beating of his assistant, 67-year-old Judy Elliott. Two women who were there watching television with Nelson and Springs contacted Arlington police the next day about what they’d seen.

I wanted to update everyone about the murder of Clint Dobson. There have been two arrest so far and my source said there may be a third pending.

This was a horrid crime. Both Clint and Judy were found bound and beaten and Clint had a garbage bag over his head that ultimately caused his death, Clint was beat so badly that the Police Officer and Medics that first responded believed that Clint had been shot in the head.. They basically got nothing. They used Judy's car to go to the mall and charge up her credit cards. The motive makes no sense, unless they believed that the church still had Sunday's contributions in the building I find it hard to believe that robbery was why they were there. It is my belief that they were there to murder Clint and Judy for the thrill of it.

To those who were members of Clint's Church or anyone else for that matter I would say remember that Clint died in the service of Christ our Lord and that he is now, at this very moment, in the arms of our Savior and the finale moments of his life are out shined by the glory he is surrounded by now.

Please keep Judy in your prayers as she is still touch and go and last I heard she has pump to move the blood as her heart was so over worked while it tried to keep her alive for the aprox 4-5 hours she was left to bleed to death until they were found.

I was so horrified when I read of this unbelievable tragedy... I can’t believe the murderers didn’t know that this was the nephew of Dr. James Dobson, and that may be why they targeted him. I’m so thankful that Clint is now with the Lord and is not suffering in this horrible, evil world any longer. And I hope the men who did this will receive swift and complete justice.

Yes, I’m in this community and have been following this heinous crime. What’s more revealing is the absolute cold shoulder given this case by the supreme leftist columnists in the Ft Worth paper, while they rail against “assassins” on the police force shooting a convicted, wanted drug dealer trying to kill an officer.

What has been released about this murder are small details, when the full details of what happened in that CHURCH comes out you will find that they have no heart for God to reach.

Doubtful these thugs had the presence of mind to realize the connection to Pastor Dobson's uncle or to target him for that reason.

I understand that Pastor Dobson desired to work with the "underprivileged" and might have come in contact with one or more of these guys through his ministry.
