A retired admiral and short-lived nominee to head the Defense Department has been named the director of the nation's largest and most controversial private security force.
Retired Adm. Bobby Ray Inman, 79, who's legendary intelligence career includes serving as the vice director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, director of the National Security Agency, and most recently as deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency, will lead the board of directors for Xe Services, formerly Blackwater USA.
The North Carolina-based firm best known for providing security in Iraq and Afghanistan is trying to reshape its image since being acquired by USTC Holdings.
The firms new parent company has yet to name a new CEO to replace Erik Prince, the ex-special forces operator who oversaw Blackwater during the 2007 Nisoor Square shooting in Iraq that left 17 Iraqi civilians dead and severely strained relations between Washington and Baghdad.
The company still has numerous security contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan, mostly protecting State Department employees. It also has several overseas contracts, and an estimated value in the billions.

The makeover will be almost done when they stop calling it “Formerly known as Blackwater...”
Bring back the name Blackwater..it conjures up more stupidity with the libs.
I think the "black" in Blackwater is what the problem is. It sounds nefarious. To have a positive look to the company they need something that make them sound good. How about "Whitewater". That doesn't have any bad connotations. Oh, wait...
The “blackwater” name is a direct reference to its home location. A visit to the training center at Moyock will clarify why it conjures a really appropriate image...
And why would that be? I think that the libs in the State department realized that these people were the ones saving their sorry arses and told their like minded travellers in DC to back off.
An idiot hiding something in his closet. Not good choice for the company.
Business as usual. I wanted to attend some of there training, but alas, it is out of my price range. It is still on the list of a fun week. I like the new name Xe, mysterious.
Change the name to Bongwater and the libs will be filling out applications to join.
Haha!! Thanks for the laugh!
