'I had an affair because I love America', claims presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich

Call it patriotic adultery.

Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich has claimed that he had an affair with a colleague because his love of country made him work too hard. The twice-divorced Republican politician was married to his second wife Ginther when he embarked on an affair in the mid-90s with blonde Castilla Bisek, who is 23-years his junior.

(snip)

'There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate,' Gingrich told The Christian Broadcasting Network.

This is another hit piece by the MSM on a conservative, IMO.
Leave it to the Associated Press to bungle a headline.

After my interview with Newt Gingrich Monday the clear headline was the fact that Gingrich really opened up and talked extensively about how he sought God’s forgiveness over his marital discretions of the past. Yet the AP comes up with this headline:

Gingrich: Love of country contributed to affair

You’re kidding right? Oy-gevalt.

First of all, I was in the room. Gingrich was talking about how his love of country contributed to his hard-charging work ethic. That ultimately led him down a path that was not conducive to a happy family life. But to make the link from “love of country” to the “affairs” is extremely misleading. Furthermore, that isn’t even the headline to the story. How about “Gingrich Owns Up to Past Infidelity?” I have a few more but I have no desire to be an AP headline writer. Then again maybe I should.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is “Exhibit A” as to why conservatives believe the mainstream media has a liberal bias. Hard to argue after this headline.

Newt should dress the part.

“Go away Newt.”

With this bonehead statement, I think he’s pretty much done that. (Sigh of relief.)

Waiting for liberal pundits to praise Newt for his courage and advise the GOP to nominate him for the coming sacrifice, if it should happen.

This should finally finish Newt off. He has finally revealed his “all about me” insufferable hubris. Now he will be laughed at.

Even though I have been a Conservative for most of my adult life, I don't have any use for Newt Gingrich.

He is to us what John F. Kerry is to the Left.

If by some remote chance he gets the GOP Nomination for POTUS, it will mean that I will have to hold my nose before casting a ballot in two consecutive Presidential Races.

It is a bit to ask. That is why for all of these years, I have never registered as a Republican but voted for them exclusively except 1976(one mistake being Carter, the only vote I am ashamed of).

Why didn’t Bill Clinton think of that?

Wait a minute people. He did! Don’t you remember your history? Monica waltzed in and showed bill her thong during the time of the government shutdown (ironically in which Newt played a key role). The story went that the WH was in “war mode” and they were ordering pizza in and all that and staffers were working overtime and .... well the rest is history!

People are calling him a genius and an intellectual Mount Everest. He ain’t a theoretical physicist, he’s a politician, not the most intellectually challenging profession on the planet. And as for his idiotic comments, stick a fork in him, he’s done.

Gringrich has so much baggage, it takes a train to pull it all. He needs to start early trying to get it out, so he claim it has already been vetted [shades of Hillary Clinton in 2008].

Also, this may just be a trail balloon: If it flies, he will announce. If it crashes, he will just save his money.

Even if partially true, that is a distasteful thing to say.

I think the truth is that Bill did it because he always did, and always could, and never offered an excuse because he figured we all knew him well enough by that time not to be surprised. That includes his ever-adoring wife, who was angry with him only for being reckless enough to get caught.

That statement ALONE should bury his Presidential run.

presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich

The arrogance of Newt knows no bounds. Along with his apparent stupidity in coming up with this BS.

Which “lady”? I believe the Newtster did this twice. To two different wives [including the first of the “ladies”].

‘He’s done.’

That’s what I thought when I heard this ridiculous explanation. Newt, your time is up. One less hanger-oner hanging on.
