Budget battle in D.C.

Posted on 03/10/2011 2:44:13 PM PST by Jean2

Does anyone here know what is happening with the budget situation in D.C.?

My boss just told me that if the issue is not resolved by next Friday then I could be furloughed temporarily. On the one hand; I often think that they should just shut down the government. On the other hand since I am employed with the DOD I am understandably concerned.

Nobama will never cave on the budget. He will pull a Clinton and I’m afraid the media is set to blame the republicans and the republicans will cave, like Gingrich did.

here’s how gov’t shut downs have worked in the past...
gov’t shuts down non essential employees...
contractors pick up the slack of furloughed gov’t employees...
budget is settled... gov’t emplyees come back to work...
given money they would have earned if they had worked.

what a farce.

The GOP is currently searching for their spine and guts. Scott Walker just proved he’s a man. The GOP House members, including the Speaker of the House, are not sure what they are.

Michele Bachmann has more spine, guts, and gonads than 98% of the supposed men in Congress.

The GOP will, if the past is any indication, roll over like two dollar whores.

I thought that earlier about a half-dozen Senators (led by Jim DeMint) had sent a memo to Dingy Harry that said they would NOT allow any other Senate business to take place on the floor, by blocking it, other than REDUCTIONS IN SPENDING in the Continuing Resolution’s battle.

Fox News just reported that there will be another budget extension offered on Friday, this time asking for - wait for it - 6 billion in cuts.

Will they demand that 0bama death care be defunded? Planned Parenthood? Anything?

Feckless b@stards.

Absolutely correct. Feds won’t loose any pay even if they’re “furloughed”. Contractors will keep things going as they usually do.

“Will they demand that 0bama death care be defunded?”

The last CR proposed by the House had 9 amendments targeting Obama death care. None of them have been enacted of course. This is THE must win battle. How can a congress fund legislation that has been found by a federal court to be unconstitutional? It’s patently absurd on its face.

We don’t know what the total represents but I think it is specific cuts not just general reductions.

You're probably right. I just think that such small amounts are meaningless unless tied to a kick-@ss plan like (shock!) Dick Morris presented that ties the 0bama administration into knots with each iteration. I really like that plan.

But I see no such ball-breaking going on with the current pubbie leadership. All I see is a fear of hardball politics that zer0 definitely does NOT have.
