Police confiscated bullets and an antique gun from Charlie Sheen's luxury Beverly Hills mansion during a raid late last night, they have confirmed.
Although Sheen has a firearms license his possession of the weapon violated a restraining order issued at the request of his ex-wife Brooke Mueller last week.
In a statement the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed reports that officers had been searching for a gun.
'It came to the attention of the LAPD that Sheen is the registered owner of firearms,' a spokesman for the LAPD said.
The spokesman added that the purpose of the raid was 'to determine if he [Sheen] is in possession of firearms and ammunition in violation of the [restraining order].'
Sheen's lawyer Mike Gross confirmed that police discovered an 1800s-era rifle and 'a few bullets'.
Despite the violation Sheen was not arrested, with images from overhead cameras showing him apparently unfazed as police searched inside his home, eating a dinner of burgers with his lawyers and friends on an outside patio.
Sheen has played down the raid claiming officers were 'protecting him'.
Writing on his official Twitter this morning, he said: 'All good here on homefront. All reports are false. I'll explain more very soon.'
He added: 'The LAPD were AWESOME. Absolute pros! they can protect and serve this Warlock anytime! 101 and on the black. 50 cops in my home. they all left. I'm still here. WINNING? 24/7.'
In what is being described as a 'pre-planned raid', the LAPD and other law enforcement agencies demanded entry to his luxury Beverly Hills mansion.
Meanwhile, at the height of the drama, Sheen's neighbour Paris Hilton emerged from her house to run the gamut of police cars, helicopters and news camera crews.

Sounds like someone — his ex-wife or baby mama — has it out for him.
They called the police stating he was threatening himself with a gun, when police arrived he was in the middle of dinner party.
....but that suitcase full of cocaine was promptly returned to Mr. Sheen.
Hope they didn’t make off with any of his tiger’s blood.

News this AM said that Charlie has ordered 50,000 such t-shirts.
For a moment, I thought that was a picture of a former Governor of California.
On DRUDGE it was reported that those bullets didn’t even fit the gun. One antique gun with bullets that didn’t fit. Cool move to protect himself.
This has nothing to do with the cops being at his house but ran with the story. I don't know what's more disturbing...the tattoo...or that someone would have it put on them.
I guess Charlie loads his own otherwise they would have taken whole cartridges.
Loads his own ammo, of course.
Registration is a tool put in place so that the government can swing on by and get you any time they feel like it.
Bullets? Just pieces of lead or completely loaded cartridge cases containing powder, primer and bullet?
I must say, I’m not a real fan of sheen or his antics but how the hell does someone filing a restraining order give the courts the power to violate Sheens’ constitutional rights?
I call total BS on this one. Can you say “Police State”?

Stupidity should be painful, and this fool will wear the badge of stupidity on their leg the rest of their life.
I honestly believe that some people’s only purpose in life, is to serve as a warning to other people. This fool would be the person I would point at, when I’m trying to explain consequences of stupid decisions to my grandkids.
In a few years, it will be a purple splotch, and people will ask him what it was, then say “Charlie who??”
And it is not even a good tattoo.
