Prayers for Japan.
am I reading this right? ANOTHER 8.8?
I thoink this is noting the original event, but there have been at least 13 5.0+ Earthquakes in this area in the last THREE hours, with a 6.8 about an hour ago.
It’s the 12th in Japan, not the 11th. This is yesterday’s warning. I’ve no idea why they’ve got an active tsunami warning going right now.
it’s dated the 11th, which is yesterday(for them)
Oh-oh. Bungo Strait is taking it in the shorts again, multiple times!
This was issued at Issued at 13:50 JST 12 Mar 2011
Appears to be...!
You are right. Here is their data.
Occurred at 14:46 JST 11 Mar 2011
Region name Sanriku Oki
Depth about 20km
Magnitude 8.8
It’s the original quake that was upgraded to a 8.9 and now a 9.1.
Prayers for Japan and all the suffering they are going through. I had the opportunity to meet about five older teens last summer. They were Japanese and visiting the U.S. I will tell you that they were very nice kids and told me that they just loved America. I hope they are alright and the people of Japan have better days. Just a thought.
I don’t know if there’s any other country that’s better suited to recover from this, to just get to cleaning up, rebuilding, and reorganizing. It could have been so much worse had they not been so good at planning and implementing in the first place. I know quite a few from different parts of Japan, and I pray that all of them and all of Japan stay strong, and right now that the nuclear reactor meltdown that seems to be happening is contained and minimized, that they’ve already seen the worst of all of this, and that they can get back to their lives soon.
is there an app that tell you where to flee too in case of a tsunami e.g where’s the closest higher ground
New tsunami warnings being issued on NHK World as I type.
After further investigation, I was both wrong and right. These new notices were for reflected waves of the original tsunami event that were returning from encountering land masses in the Pacific, and while highly unlikely to impact people on land, it would affect people in harbors and could cause additional damage in those areas.
