That’s why they still have tsunami warnings in effect in Japan.
Wow. Absolutely horrific what is happening to Japan.
Prayers continuing for the people of Japan.
What I am worried about is the nuclear situation. Not only for Japan but the jet stream can carry radiation over to here.

PING!
On another thread, elpinta posted this earthquake map -

Really gives you an indication of how crazy and strong and continual those aftershocks have been.
See a 6.1 posted at USGS, not 7.2.
It devastated shift keys on keyboards all around!
I don’t see that on the map, where did you see this?
The great share of the damage is tsunami caused.
It could have been much, much worse.
If anyone has a Facebook page please click on the link and ‘Like’ the page - it’s a search and rescue dog page and $1.00 will be donated to that fun for Japan rescues.

Heres where you come in: For every Like of the Dog Bless You Facebook page (#dogblessyou, #dogs4japan), Explore will donate a dollar up to $100,000. Get this: If the page gets 100,000 Likes by Sunday, March 13 at 2 a.m. EST, that dollar figure doubles, and Explore will donate $200,000. Cmon people, lets help those quake victims!
CNN live reporting it has been confirmed by japanese govt sources that fuel in unit 1 at fukushima (the one that had the explosion) has partially melted. They are still working to cool it.
A nuke plant falling into the Pacific Ocean is NOT going to poison the whole ocean. I sailed across the Atlantic when I was in the navy in 76-80. it took a week and the Pacific is 3 times bigger than the Atlantic. Any nuclear material that fell into the Pacific Ocean will be diluted and not be able to affect anything outside of it's local area and probably not much then. You obviously have no conception of how big an ocean is and how much water is involved.
Same thing with fallout making its way across the Pacific. Did we get killed because of Chernobyl? That was FAR worse than the Japanese incidents. The fallout is not going to be concentrated and then fly over here just to rain on our parades. It's going to disperse in the weeks that it's going to take to travel over here and we'll be exposed to far <1% of any radiation that is released.
Take it easy people. Don't let this spook you like this.
