so, now can we get back the CFC asthma inhalers that actually worked?

Wrong hoax. That one is the one where if you use refrigerants that are in the public domain because DuPont's patents have expired, you'll blow a hole in the ozone. Only the new ones, still under DuPont's control can save life on earth. Especially puppies.

Actually it was the same hoax for the same reason. Propellants that had worked remarkably well in asthma inhalers since the 1950's were banned and replaced by propellants that were never properly tested.

While the new HFA propellants work for some, they cause severe asthma attacks in some, don't work for some, don't work nearly as well for many.

In order to work the new propellants ironically require asthma patients to take very deep breaths. In addition the propellants are prone to clogging, even with meticulous care. CFC inhalers were very sturdy; you could toss an emergency inhaler in your car glove compartment or desk drawer and leave it there for years. When you needed it it sill worked.

Considerable sums of money were spent to help the Lung Association 'educate' patients. Patients who had had well controlled asthma for years and had problems with the new inhalers were informed that they just didn't know what they were doing.

Junk Science Kills

HFA MDI's poorly tested

...the original patents ran out on the old inhaler...
