Nanking got all of their looting out of their system.
In South Korea, there are stretches of *forest* where the trees are all planted in nice neat rows. During their occupation of the peninsula, the Japanese had removed vast swaths of lumber for their military/industrial efforts, leaving much of the landscape denuded. This was still pretty much the case in 1950, so you'll see very little woodland in pictures from the Korean war. Much of the forested areas of the ROK have been planted since 1953.
And the Phillipines.

The fact is that if the japanese had not gotten nuked and truly beaten into submission there is no reason to believe that they would not still be world class bastards.
One good thing that will come from this is that since they don't have the bodies to rebuild, they will be forced out of necessity to accept tens of thousands of Chinese or Korean or SE Asian or Filipino or Indo laborers into their homes.
