I love how we’re supposed to think an additional 18 minutes a day for two weeks, or whatever it is, is going to somehow magically make all the difference in what kids learn.

Our schools almost freely admit that all grading is submitted by the 3rd week of May, yet school is in session at least til the 2nd week of June. Most of that time is filled with things like “School Spirit” Day, Game Day, Field Day, Movie Day, or some other Garbage Day. Isn’t it time we do away with the legally required 180 days and worry about what the heck our kids are actually learning?!?!

Clearly, the reason it is being done this way so that the teachers don’t have to add any additional days to the school year. They want the entire 3 months off.
