He’s now going to pizz off the military; he has no idea how ridiculously lucky he is that the US Military never acts as a political force in it’s own right.

the military would miss a payday if a shutdown continued through April 1.

If anybody but Obama were president, I would have thought this to simply be an April Fool's Joke.

Isn’t that how the Soviets started to lose Eastern Europe? I thought I remembered seeing unpaid Soviet soldiers leaving their post and returning to the USSR.

YGTBSM!

This is so stupid, it has to be a preemptive strike against the concept of selective shut down. Lord forbid we shut down part of the government (everyone can pick their favorite) and then - gasp- get used to doing for ourselves.

spent 20 years in the army and remember the last shutdown. This is ridiculous.

I really don't think so.
I think this is another scare tactic from the Administration and the Democrat party. Or maybe from some bureaucrats in Washington. But we will see.

I don’t think so. The only things that will discountiue will be discretionary. The military spending and even social security spending will continue.

So, my son, who is about to deplay to Afghanistan, leaving his pregnant wife and twin sons behind, will not be receiving any pay so that his family can buy food and pay bills? Why would anyone want to follow orders in our military with these clowns running things?

Let me get this straight:

Social Security checks go out on schedule

Lawmaker’s checks go out on schedule

Disability Checks go out on schedule.

Pretty much everybody gets paid, even in a “shutdown”... except for the one group in our government that are serving to protect us - even with their own lives.

How come the military are among the FIRST to lose their pay? They should be among the VERY LAST to miss a paycheck.

I’ll bet Congress still gets paid.

Consider the distinction between the 1995 shutdown and what is now threatened, together with the way the DOD dismissed P.J. and is treating suspect Private Manning - which one day could be any of us.

It seems safe to conclude the DOD, as with many top government departments, has any number of anti-American political operatives directing policy.

Now we see how they got it fixed to put the Military against us.

OK, lets have at it.

The Military would be paid out of federal revenues received
each month.

When I was serving in the 1980’s, when the congress and President Reagan were disagreeing about the budget, we were told that in the case of a government shutdown, we still had to report for duty and that we could still make purchases at the comissary and exchange and they would hold on to our personal checks, until our pay had caught up with us. For those living on the economy, letters were being prepared by the local commands, outlining what was happening and to try and work with military members until this situation was resolved.

Thankfully, we never missed a check.

Not if the House votes to fund the DoD on a partial. Then it's the Democrats who will refuse to pass it, or Obama who refuses to sign it.

As it is, "the budget" is never passed in a single bill, it usually is broken up into a half-dozen chunks. It'sjust that in the past, those separate bills were(usually) voted on before the fiscal year began.

This is the usual liberal panic ploy:

Budget Cuts! Police and Fire Hardest Hit!

The sad part is that the "journalists" will gladly be their patsy.

Looks like they will do everything they can to make it as painful as possible during a shutdown.

Liberal Big Government 101 — They play this game in all the blue states.
