A gruesome attack that killed a New Hampshire woman and wounded her daughter in a home invasion has led New Hampshire’s House to vote to expand the state’s death penalty law.

The young men charged in the 2009 machete attack in Mont Vernon couldn’t have faced the death penalty because the crime doesn’t fall into one of six types of murders punishable by death under New Hampshire’s statute, one of the narrowest in the nation.

I am glad they changed this. The idea of someone breaking into your home while you are there is terrifying to me. I cannot imagine the fear.

Is this a REAL penalty or the California version where you get 3 hots and a cot for 30 years while “waiting” ?

I don't remember New Hampshire ever carrying out a capital punishment.

Does this law mean that a murder while committing a car jacking will be less than a home invasion?

I’m not so sure criminals consult a manual detailing possible punishment for crimes they’re about to commit. How about keeping this simple. Enforce a death penalty for comitting murder.

I question the American people allowing special punishment if the victim is a member of certain segments of the government.

We are not supposed to have separate laws for the ruling class and the average citizen yet state after state gives special status to people based upon their jobs.

BS. Either have the death penalty and enforce it using EQUAL PROTECTION under the law or don’t have it at all.

Is the victim dead?

Yes.

Was it murder?

Yes.

Hang the perp. Next.

"6 types of murder". This is completely insane.

If I can get to my gun in time, the intruder will receive capital punishment on the spot.
