Three-term Congressman Dean Heller says he will run for the U.S. Senate seat held by Nevada Republican John Ensign.
Heller's announcement after months of alluding to a run comes a week after Ensign announced he won't seek a third term. Ensign says he wants to shield his family from campaign attacks stemming from his extramarital affair.
Heller sent an e-mail to supporters Tuesday morning announcing his Senate run. He says he wants to curb government spending and heal Nevada's troubled economy. The Silver State has the highest unemployment in the nation at 14.2 percent.
Heller's staff has said he would trump any candidate in primary or general election Senate races. Potential rivals include Republican and tea party favorite Sharron Angle and Democratic Rep. Shelley Berkley.

This is good news. I don’t think that Sharron Angle will run for the again.
Headline: **What State?** - Only 50 or so to chose from.
Click on Link = Oh, Nevada.
Cool. bump!
Are we afraid to say “Republican?” The article says he’ll run for the seat held by Republican Senator Ensign, but does not list his political affiliation. Wish this Republican lots of luck, especially with Reid as the other Nevada Senator. We can all see how that’s working out for Nevada’s unemployment situation...
Nevada had a chance last Nov. to change their unemployment situation. OH Well
Only 50 or so to chose from.
57 to be exact ;)
Thank God for small favors.
Good Man, I hope that Berkley tries and gets trounced by Dean. Berkley is just another Demo Union Fellow Traveler, who has never had an independent thought in her life.
Dean Heller’s record has been better than I had expected and I have no problem if he’s the nominee. I think Republican chances in this race are high.
91 ACU rating. I believe. Let’s give him a pass.
She’s running for the House like you thought. Hope she looses the primary.
