My knowledge of fires is limited to brush fires, house, bldg fires. Why isn't there enough water to put these fires out? Is it because they are coming from the core and aren't not flames initially?

My limited understanding at this point is that there is too much contamination to get close, and there’s only a hole in the roof to allow water in.

Why isn't there enough water to put these fires out? Is it because they are coming from the core and aren't not flames initially? Because of the radiation you can't get too close. You need a hose like Ron Jeremy to put these fires out safely and completely.
