Labor backers arrested at Tenn. Capitol protest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Troopers forcibly carried out seven union supporters from the Tennessee's legislative office complex on Tuesday after their protest disrupted a Senate committee hearing. The disruption occurred after hundreds of labor supporters gathered for a midday protest near the Capitol to denounce a bill to strip teachers of their collective bargaining rights. The seven arrested were among those who stood up during the hearing and began chants about "union busting" by the Legislature.

"This General Assembly will not be intimidated by nomadic bands of professional agitators on spring break bent on disruption," he said. "We talk through our differences here. Tennessee is not Wisconsin."

The conference room where the arrested protesters were held was across the hall from Ketron's office. As they were escorted out one by one and onto an elevator, fellow protesters standing by cheered and continued chanting. Tamara Henderson of Chattanooga witnessed troopers handcuff her 25-year-old daughter, Ash-Lee Henderson, and drag her down the hallway of the Legislative Plaza. She likened it to "people in Mississippi and Alabama who were hosed'" during the Civil Rights Movement. "That's how I felt," said elder Henderson, who became emotional as she spoke. "Any of you guys got kids? You ever seen your child in shackles"

Hell of a day for the unions who claim to be winning.

In Michigan only about 40 people showed up for the capitol takeover and then they were kicked out without incident.

"This General Assembly will not be intimidated by nomadic bands of professional agitators

That's the way to address these paid agitators. Paid for by the RAT party funds.

Damn! I like Tennessee! I’ve talked to the wife about retiring there. They could probably use a few more solid no-nonsense conservatives.

Y’all come see us. See if you can do it before you retire. Tennessee is a great state and we need more help outnumbering the loony left.

The avg democrat in tn is fairly fiscally conservative by democrat standards. We have our loons, of course. But Bredeson, our previous governor, would be run out of town in CA, NJ, or NY by dems.

Those agitators are always so dirty and look like they smell bad. The officers should be wearing latex gloves.

Wood shampoo: attitude adjustment in the cranial region, administered with an old fashioned wooden nightstick.

We have some good conservative friends living outside Nashville and visited them in 2009 before we went to spend a few days in the Smoky Mountains. We were informed that there are alot of liberals in Nashville.
