I hope the "unidentified retired NYPD sergeant" will be charged with homicide.

Homicide? Isn't that a little harsh? The man will have to live with the consequences of his action. That would seem to be punishment enough for a well meaning blunder.

Well meaning or not, the fact is, the guy interfered with an ongoing investigation and incited the shooting of an on-duty officer with an ill-advised call.

As the first paragraph in the story said, the guy had no business being there. If someone (particularly an on-duty cop) dies because of the actions of someone who has no business being there, the interloper should be at least charged with involuntary manslaughter, IMHO...YMMV.

Attacking and killing anyone seen with a gun or is not 'well meaning'. It is statist thuggery.

He killed a man through negligence. Do you think some local DA would think you'd been punished enough? I'm totally sick of double standards for cops.

Try his ass for Manslaughter and toss him into prison for 5 or 10 years.
