Well, the messed up part is that even though this LEO was retired, at least in NY and NJ, they still get to carry unrestricted, and are exempt from any NFA laws as long as their on this side of the earth. I often get into “discussions” with my family from LI about concealed carry. The concept is completely foreign to them, unless “you’re a cop, and if you aren’t, you have no business doing so.” They look all perplexed at me when I tell them that one’s occupation has no bearing on them being able to exercise theiry Second Amendment RIGHTS!

Agreed! I have no problem with retired cops carrying since I know one who had a scare five years after his retirement. In another state as well. I think the phrase, “you never forget the officer that arrested you” comes to mind. That being said, citizens IMHO should carry as well. The more you read the crime reports, the more I feel this way. If the government (IMHO) do nothing or very little about illegals, drug cartels etc.. than every person has the right to defend themselves.
