If the world is in crisis, you wouldnt know it by watching President Obamas spring break. Between golf, basketball and the presidents upcoming trip to Rio de Janeiro, the White House is projecting a disinterested aura of business as usual. For this administration, tuned-out is the new normal.
The Mideast crisis is continuing, and Hillary Rodham Clinton has been the one taking the 3 a.m. phone calls. The secretary of state has been dealing with political reform in Egypt, a military crackdown in Bahrain and the continuing civil war in Libya. However, she is hampered by a chief executive who cant make up his mind which course of action would best secure his place in history. Its no wonder she took the opportunity to tell CNN she had no interest in continuing in the job in a theoretical Obama second term.
For the presidents part, he did manage to squeeze in a phone call to the kings of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to express his deep concern over the violence in Bahrain and stress the importance of a political process as the only way to peacefully address the legitimate grievances of Bahrainis. After this exercise in talking-point leadership, Bahrains crackdown continued apace. Mr. Obamas views simply dont matter to a world that views him as weak.
The news from Japan grows direr as the nuclear crisis intensifies. The Obama administration has shown considerably less interest in responding to this disaster - actually three disasters: earthquake, tsunami and potential nuclear meltdown - than it did to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti...

Just one big party to some people.
It’s his turn to play president and darned if he’s gonna’ miss any of the goodies.
It makes no difference - Republican or Democrat these politicians are there for the good times, power, and subsequent money and connections. Few if any of them actually give a damn about the USA or the people.
You’d think that some time we’d hit a jackpot and actually get a leader who worked for the US people and not for lobbies representing countries outside the USA or companies headquartered here but that have their heart in China.
It’s because we worship TV, and not the Lord.
Have you noticed how Obozo and his commie ‘RATS let every crisis that comes along just drag on and on and on? Talk about exploitation. The Gulf oil rig explosion cleanup should not have been dragged out like it was. What did Barry and the U.S. do to help stop it? NOTHING. The ‘RATS are still squeezing the **** out of their “Miracle In Tuscon”. Now, we have the Japan thing. What is Barry doing? NOTHING. This inaction appears to be Barry the Kenyan and his ‘RAT comrades’ way of saying, “In your face America!” This **** is really getting creepy.
It really is about a media that works hard at keeping Americans ill-informed and ignorant about what is important and what is going on, while the media keeps itself highly compensated.
The real wealth in the USA is concentrated here: Hollywood, pro sports, celebrities, Wall Street, wheeler-dealers, and CEOs.
Small business that actually makes or produces something get the crumbs.
That threw me too but I guess it’s an adj.
I never thought we’d have a president that would bring down the esteem of the presidency more than Carter, I was wrong.
You don’t think there’s any difference between Sarah Palin and Obama?
You don’t think there’s any difference between Dan Rather and James O’Keefe?
Are you for real?
Party animal prez.
I agree. Vacations, golf, ice cream and who can throw the ball in a basket the most times seems to be all he cares about. This presidency is more like a Hollywood comedy than it is anything else.
IMO, he has the right idea of ignoring a world in crisis.
But ignoring America in crisis is another matter.
That’s good! Did you create that? If not, where did you get it from? I’d like to share it on Facebook.
The problem I see with world matters is his shunning of our true allies, we can’t survive in a vacuum.
He hasn’t got the sense of a ten year old, IMO.
Uh, maybe it's better if Obama sleeps through his presidency. The ADULTS will take charge. Eventually.
