It felt like I was going to go blind. Ouch is right!

I went to a funeral a few years ago and one of the grandma’s was making salsa. She was boiling the peppers and it turned into a gas bomb, driving everyone out of the house coughing and crying.
I went over and told my friend, she’s about 85, that her style was killing everyone. So in her tiny Mexican accent she says “I don’t know what their problem is. Maybe they’re not as Mexican as they think”.
I started laughing so hard.
She said “It doesn’t bother you?”
I laughed some more and “No” in a high pitch voice as I laughed and said “Look, let’s try something else so those weaklings can come back in”.
I pulled the chiles out of the pot and roasted them on the open flame.
Made some really terrific salsa. I love it as spicy as you can make it.
After an hour or so everyone was able to come back in the house.
