A planned press conference Saturday featuring President Barack Obama and new Brazilian President Dilma Vana Rousseff has been scratched, even before Obama departed Washington for his five-day Latin America trip.

The two leaders were scheduled to take questions Saturday morning at the Palacio do Planalto in Brasilia after a bilateral meeting there, but the White House issued a schedule Friday evening noting that the two leaders will make statements but do not plan to entertain inquiries from the press

A White House official said the change was at the request of the Brazilians. “The Brazilians said they would prefer this format,” said the U.S. aide, who asked not to be named.

I really can’t STAND the term “presser” for “press conference”. Just sayin’...

If Barry came to my country I wouldn’t want pictures of me shaking hands or having him bow to me. Worst Pres__dent ever. His house of cards is collapsing and all of the other world leaders know it.

Obama's Brazil presser scrubbed

Probably some big security threat you'll never hear about.

‘The PSTU (Partido Socialista dos Trabalhadores Unificado) is the Brazilian section of the International Workers’ League - Fourth International (Lit) with which the Italian Progetto Comunista Rifondare l’Opposizione dei Lavoratori(PC Rol,[1]) has for a long time had a close political relationship and mutual collaboration. The PSTU is also the main force of the Brazilian extreme left and first took part in elections in the Third Pole...’

Why do I get the feeling this is a setup to make Obama look like a good middle of the road type of guy.

It’s readily becoming apparent that Obozo is seen as a horrible President and a terribly weak “leader”. Nobody wants anything to do with him anymore.

I’ll be he wasn’t INVITED down there either. Probably Valerie Jarret went “Obozo Shopping” trying to find anyone that would take a meeting with him...

The new Brazilian President figured out there is nothing good coming out of standing next to the worst US president in the history of the entire global earth world place planet universe.

I'm betting Brazil couldn't guarantee Teleprompter service, and the thought of FratBoy standing naked before a press that, being non-American, might actually ask some tough questions - well, it probably all filled him with sheer terror. Safer to cancel and stick to the golf courses.

Either...

1. He couldn't get the questions in advance, or

2. The press wouldn't agree to limiting the topics.

Since Brazil was one of the nutless wonders who abstained from the Security Council vote on Libya last night, just why is Premier Hussein going there at all??

Isn’t it clear that the Brazilians are not particularly glad to have them all there?

I guess the $10 billion sent to Brazil to help them drill oil wells in the Gulf wasn’t enough to buy off all of them.

As many of his supporters here in the US have found out over the last 30 months, this guy will end no wars (see Afghan troop surge, and it looks like he’s preparing to play Big Man with Libya, though I couldn’t imagine he’d ever attack an African country), and he won’t close Gitmo.

The only difference is the media will praise him for strong leadership if he attacks Libya (even though the conflict has NOTHING to do with us); the soft bigotry of lowered expectations in action.
