IFF = “identification friend or foe”. Usually it’s meant to refer to electronic systems which handle this chore, but I meant it in a more general sense - gonna be hard to tell who’s who, they’re all a bunch of crazies yelling Allah Ackbar and firing wildly in all directions.

IFF = Identify Friendly flier. All military aircraft have a signal transponder that sends out a code telling any other military aircraft what nation they come from. The receiver has smarts...it will know if the military is friendly or not.
