He’s all Chicago.
I guess we can take it with a ‘grain of salt’.
Until reading this thread, I was unaware there had been any damage or flooding in Hawaii due to the tsunami; everyone has been riveted by the horror in Japan.
I’d have clumb one of them pineapple trees.
This was sad news.
We spent a week at this resort back in the early 90s. The beach wasn’t that great, but the food was great. The scones were absolutely yummy.
My son and daughter-in-law’s favorite vacation spot. They are going to be very sad.
Was Poipu Beach, near Spouting Horn, damaged? That was my favorite place!
Yes. At first I was surprised at how few of my family called or emailed to see how we were. Took a while to find out the MSM was ignoring it in favor of nuke hysteria.
About the same thing a few years ago when a Cat 5 hurricane was heading straight for us. All you saw in the news was Caribbean storms and people worried about their vacations being canceled.
I stayed there with my family when I was little. It was a wonderful place to stay.
I haven’t heard of much signifiant damage from Kauai. I know that the Grand Hyatt Kauai had some damage, but only up to the vegetation line. Probably some localized flooding, but I haven’t seen anything too significant.
additionally Governor Abercrunb was disappointed to hear that Obama’s nonexistant birth certificate got washed away..they are sending out a search crew they think it might have washed up on Gilligan’s island, where Obama was born./s
I have very fond memories of Poipu Beach. I met Fanne Foxe there. She had been spirited away from the Continent by Wilbur Mills. I was walking along the beach, when this amazing woman walked out of the surf. Recognized her right away. But,,, I’ve always been a news hound! And a bit more,,,,,,,,
Alii Drive is already open as are all the shops/restaurants that we saw.
Didn't know about the 4 Seasons closing till April, though, and the news about The Kona Village Hotel is a surprise.
Downtown Kona itself seems to have survived just fine.
Last I heard (yesterday?) the shops on the makai side of Alii Dr and Kona Inn were still without power, but the rest did not get flooded too badly.
They're democrats. Next question.
I was on my scanner thru the entire event and can confirm that I definitely heard the HPD talking about looting/looters in Napoopoo at approx 7:am , myself .
They got came from Honaunau side . The HPD got on it right away and I think it only was happening real early in the AM .
As soon as the waves calmed down a bit , people started coming around and the looters could not do their thing .
When confronted , they ran off into the bushes , with people’s stuff in hand .
nah....da lolo papolo from Palolo ....
That’s too bad.
