Qingdao, on Kiaochow Bay, is undergoing rapid change to a modern city wirh much of the construction being done by the Germans and French.
As part of the German Concession (think Boxer Rebellion), it was called Tsingtao. The Chinese beer "Tsingtao", in the green bottle, comes from there. The brewery, still in use, was built be Lowenbrau and looks much like a German castle on the Rhine.
