To me, I believe what Sherman did to Georgia and South Carolina may have hastened the end of the war and shown that the Confederate Army could no longer protected its people. But it was not a just war policy. Grant beat Lee's army in the field through constant battles of attrition. Dresden did not win WWII. The Russian horde, the British and Americans beat the damn Nazis. The air war made it possible by destroying strategic and tactical targets, not by slaughtering people in Dresden or Hamburg. I don't think any of the authorities on that war believe otherwise.

Using the war methods you advocate fits well with the way the Germans made war on Belgium in WWI, the way the Nazis made war in WWII, the rape of Naking, and Genghis Khan. You're far too cavalier about slaughter and in the advocacy of it to be honest with you.
