How can anyone from that video know this was a case of a “bullied kid” fighting back? It’s impossible to know who started what or how or why.

True that it is hard to derive much from the vid, but since it went viral it's been established that the big kid had been picked on by these kids (some of whom are heard in the background) over an extended period of time.

He happened to choose that day to draw a line.

Nah...it’s the mother of the little ‘angel’ who is suing. Says that now that the video has gone viral and worldwide, she and her son are experiencing “emotional distress’. She also wants a public apology from the “bully” who ‘layeth the smacketh down’ on her poor, defenseless little boy.

If I were Casey’s parents, I’d be saying “Bring it on, be-otch.” The video CLEARLY shows that Casey held off and did NOT want to fight and only acted after displaying incedible patience with the little turd.

Oh...and it wasn’t his leg that was broken. It was his ankle.

In the news report I heard, Casey had contemplated suicide because of the bullying he was taking.

"And now, the stupid little kid is suing the guy who slammed him."

Actually, it's even worse. Now the little weasel is a VICTIM: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2692137/posts

This has been covered quite a bit in the news over the last week or so, and the back story has been discussed. The big kid had been the victim of bullying for some time and finally decided it was enough. Even the bully’s mom said her son nwas wrong and deserved what he got.

Understood, its just that the bullied kid was so much bigger and totally kicked ass.

We didn’t used to have rape hotlines in the USA. Why? Because forcible rape was a capital crime in most States. But then came the psychologists and the fraudulent Kinsey Study that was used to get sex crimes penalties reduced in all 50 States. Now we send sex criminals to worthless “treatment” programs that factually make the perps MORE violent. Good for shrinks’ paychecks though. Gotta keep those priorities straight.

I say if you can prove forcible rape or drug-induced rape you execute the perps. I’d bet that the incidence of rape would decrease. Just a guess.

And fighting back against bullies is exactly what it takes to get them to leave you alone. With a baseball bat, if necessary.

The big kid was interviewed on TV, which I saw last night.

He said he had been bulled much of his life for being overweight and even contemplated suicide a year ago.

Since that video went viral, he has received a zillion e-mails supporting his action. He now feels good about himself, is very happy, and no longer depressed.

When I was a kid, I was bullied a few times because I looked like an easy target. Boy, were they wrong! A few irate mothers called my home over the issue of missing teeth. My mom told them, “Then keep your boy away from mine!” and hung up. End of story. We didn’t depend on lawyers in those days.

Yeah, don’t pick on someone twice your size. Damn that little kid is stupid!

I saw that dozens of times in High School; some little guy trying to show he's tough by sucker-punching some big kid who's known for not fighting back (raised in a Liberal household, perhaps?).

Only a couple of times did it end like this, with the big kid giving it right back.

More than once, the crowd who'd been cheering on the little twerp would start chanting "Pick on someone your own size" at the bigger kid.

I was that big kid when I was his age.

I didn’t think to body slam my antagonist. I just ignored them, until they came and begged me for help on their homework. Then I ignored them more. I only had to punch out a few guys.

Me too. There were a few bullies in grammar and middle school.

They all started and ended the same way. Them provoking, me avoiding them as long as I could, then, them being very sorry.

I could have saved everyone a bunch of time by simply accommodating them with the ass-kicking they wanted from the start.

How can anyone from that video know this was a case of a “bullied kid” fighting back?

It's very obvious to the rest of us, and if you look further you will find that the big kid has been picked on for years.

It looks like the little bully comes from a family of bullies, as his mother is insisting that the family of the big kid apologize to the bullies family..

The mothers actions are also those of a bully.

She feels humiliated because the video has gone viral and the bullies family is getting all sort of grief now that his victim has stood up for himself.

“... has to be a follow up to that...”

I saw a short clip on Fox this morning. The larger kid did some sort of taped interview. He had a very meek voice which surprised me. Anyways, he said that he had been bullied by some of the students at his school for months about his size. He said he “snapped” when he did the body slam because of the past bullying issues. Sounded to me as if the initial bullying was ongoing and not addressed by school administration. IMHO, the smaller kid learned a lesson... don’t hit someone and not expect them to defend themselves.

Someone else posted that the bully’s mother said he deserved what he got.

My only point was based on the video. It comes on with the smaller kid throwing a few punches to little effect for a second or two, followed by the big kid picking him up and slamming him.

Without knowing the back story I could not possibly determine one is a bully, the other the victim. There could have been other punches or whatever before the video started.

Well, I was not there, so I cannot pretend that I fully understand the situation, but here is how I see it --

It's at least a three man operation.
They've got a cameraman. This is going to be fun. They want to capture the hilarity and share it with their friends. After the first few punches elicit no reaction from the victim, we hear the cameraman chuckle, "This is sad, bro." Yeah, that fat kid sure is a pathetic speciman, huh?
They've got the bully. He walks up and punches a boy in the face without no provocation. When the second punch is blocked, the bully starts dancing like a boxer. Oh, it's on now! Yeah! Let's go!
Lastly, we have the Big Kid who steps in as backup when the bully is taken down. The Big Kid moves into the scene in a threatening manner, but is persuaded to back off by the older girl who also steps in.

You ... uh ... you're not sure about this? You think maybe the fat kid who got punched in the face is the real problem here?
