I HAVE been exposed to Palestinians since I was in first grade in Al-Hassa, Saudi Arabia They were my favorite teachers. They were the most dedicated and the most intelligent among all my instructors, from elementary to high school.
When I was attending New York-based SUNY Maritime college (1975-1979), I read a lot of books about Palestinians, Arabs and the Israelis. I have read every article about the many chances the Palestinians had and missed to solve their problem, especially the Camp David agreement between Egypt and Israel.
I have seen and read about the lives of the Palestinians in the US and other places. They are very successful in every field. And at the same time I saw the Arab countries at the bottom of the list in education and development. And I always ask the question: What if the Palestinians and the Arabs accepted the presence of Israel on May 14, 1948 and recognized its right to exist? Would the Arab world have been more stable, more democratic and more advanced?

Well, if the Arabs had done it most of the Pallies would be Jordanians or Egyptions right now.
If they had, there is a significant chance they, too, would be given a new State of their own. The problem was they fought such a thing by also fighting the idea of a Jewish State and being uncooperative with the British and otehrs after WWII. Had they been peaceful, that entire region would be different today.
Would the Arab world have been more stable, more democratic and more advanced?
Nope. The shiite’s and sunni’s would still try to kill each other. On the flip side, Jordan might have become a world financial center with all those brilliant Palestinians.
What if my Aunt had testicles?
Hate, to muslims, is like oxygen.
“Would the Arab world have been more stable, more democratic and more advanced?”
In a convoluted way, this still assumes an external cause for the inherent problems of Islam. Without Israel to hate, Islam might have hated itself to death. Who knows? Islam is what it is, and nothing, especially wishful thinking, is going to give it the virtues to create vibrant, industrious, liberty loving, Democratic societies. Israel has been the other half of the fight, and look how it compares.
The idea that by accepting Israel, and Jews, they would be better people with a tendency towards decency in the form of Democracy....well that sounds about right. Hell, they could even have their Caliphate and nobody would need to care.
The reality is, Arab tribes will always fight, so without finding unity in a common cause of hating Jews, or the West, they wouldn’t have had a premise for Pan-Arabism.
The best plan for dealing with the Muslim states is to sow the seeds of distrust among them therefore letting them practice jihad against each other.....it is their natural state!!!
Hello? If the Arabs recognized Israel, there wouldn't have been any refugees because none of the Arabs would have been convinced that they should leave. Some might have eventually become uncomfortable in the Jewish State and sold their property, though few of those who didn't cut and run have done so.

“What if the Palestinians and the Arabs accepted the presence of Israel on May 14, 1948 and recognized its right to exist?”
1. We would have been able to say “Yasser Who?”, and the Left would have had to come up with another whipping boy.
2. Reverend Wright and “Minister” Farakahn (sp?) would have had much shorter sermons over the past couple of decades.
What if my aunt had wheels?
“...being uncooperative with the British and otehrs after WWII. Had they been peaceful, that entire region would be different today.”
Uncooperative with the british??? They wre “cooperative” beyond your wildest imagination.
There was a moderately funny movie long ago, Americathon, where the “Hebrabs” were very wealthy and successful. As mentioned in the Wikipedia entry, the movie predicted many trends and events with chilling accuracy.

She’d be your uncle?????
An even better question would have been, had the British not taken Haj Amin ElHusseini under their wing in 1920 and paid him to incite Jew-hatred throughout the Mandate, would the Palestinians have been better off? I’d say definitely. The world, too. And Israel’s borders would have included Judah and Shomron as well, and the Holocaust would have been a good deal smaller. Syria would still have the Golan, and Egypt would still have Ghaza. Had the Cairo-Khartoum cabal simply packed it in when the Hussein clan failed to excite enough interest among Arabs to unite them, Israel would have also included present-day Jordan. Instead, they decided to partition the Palestinian Mandate and give half of it to King Abdullah Hussein, set up King Faisal Hussein in Iraq, and hire the aforementioned trouble-maker, also a Hussein.
Most Jordanians are Palestinians. If a Palestinian had been made king back in the 40s then much of the Israel-Arab conflict would have been avoided.
“They wre cooperative beyond your wildest imagination.”
No, they weren’t. They have been liars their whole existence. Even now they send rockets into Israel then claim innocence.
You misunderstand. The arabs cooperated with the british to keep Jews from EVER havung a state. The brits whipped them into a feeding frenzy. Read your history.
