A STORY about an Ipswich father who claimed he was so irate when he discovered his two kids were bullies that he marched them into a police station has been a huge online hit.
-snip
The man, who only wanted to be identified as Matt, told radio station 97.3FM the incident started last week when he came home from work early.
I came around the corner three streets from home. Theres my 17-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter and theyre fair beating the living crap out of this kid.
He said he damaged his car as he pulled up on the gutter, dragged his kids into the back of the car and took the 13-year-old victim back to his home before doling out the punishment.
I marched both my kids into the local police station. Theyve both now been charged with assault, he said.
The dad said he sold his 17-year-old sons recently purchased car and 15-year-old daughters horse as further punishment.
He said the bullying victim had suffered a broken jaw in the attack from his kids.

Well, this is one Ipswich resident who refused to clam up;)
broken jaw. that goes beyond “bullying”.
Well, geeze, dad, don't you understand?
(Good for you, dad!)
and bye bye car and horse.
we need more parents like this. But I don't hold out that these kids won't be in trouble again. ANYone who will beat on another person, especially younger, smaller and for NO REASON, has the propensity to attack people again.
I'm a great grandmother. I have never in my life even THOUGHT of hitting another person let alone beating them
Something does not add up in this story.... I just do not believe it.

“No, it could affect their kids’ future”
Tough!
That is the whole point of consequences!!!
You don't believe it because mommy didn't come running?
First we took away our son's basketball party that night and then we called a deputy sheriff that we know and had her come by and just chat at the boy. Scared him so bad I don't think he'll be picking on anyone for a very long time...
They had a reason. The kid was wearing glasses.
On a serious note, I grew up in the 50s and very few kids wore glasses, I don't remember the glasses wearers being bullied or even teased about them.

I felt exactly the same after I read this story. A few things seem out of place. First of all, you have two older teens a brother and sister who own both a car and a horse. From this I infer they are well to do. At their age, they are caught by Dad beating a boy to a bloody pulp because he wore glasses, coincidentally just like Dad did when he was a kid . This once upon a time, Dad has had the rearing of these teenagers ostensibly for the last 17 and 15 years respectively and yet they have gotten to the point where they are mercilessly pummeling another human being. Dad then does the “hero” thing according to the news account and because he doesn’t take any garbage from his kids, delivers them neatly to the nearest police station so that they can be charged with assault. To the obsequious sounds of “What a great Dad” he is a sensation because in this world of the ubiquitious ADHD diagnosis excuse for every errant kid, he made his progeny face the music as it were. Now, I am not one to blame parents for some bad behavior of teens, but if this man was such a role model would his children end up nearly at the end of their teen years breaking the jaw of a kid because he wore glasses? The whole story sounds made up, or if the situation is legitimate, then a large part of the narrative surrounding it is fiction.
Yes. The whole thing makes little sense. When, how, & why did the 17 yr old become involved in the altercation? What is the 17 yr old’s description of what happened? Why didn’t the father drive the victim directly to the hospital? Or the police station? What evidence is there of “bullying” other than that a 15 yr old girl spontaneously decided to break some random kid’s jaw for wearing glasses? For wearing glasses?!? Does this 15 yr old girl fly into a murderous frenzy at every person wearing glasses? Sounds to me like this “girl” ought not be allowed in public if she’s that prone to random extreme violence.
NONE of it adds up. Sounds like a story invented by the father for some reason — even unto hypothesizing violent crimes by his own kids just so that he can have praise heaped upon him for “standing up” for the public panic du jour.
The push against alleged “bullying” is a push by leftists for more governmental control. Sound crazy? Yes it does; but, mark my words.
It’s Australia Mate
sue, yes, your speculation matches mine. Sounds like pop wanted his 15 minutes.
krodg, I am very supportive of fathers who teach their kids how to live in a civilized manner. And I believe children learn best when they have both parents teaching them. Please read sue’s comments to get the gist of my view on this particular story.
Well said! The “father” is probably enjoying his time in the spotlight, and, unfortunately, there are media morons happy to give it to him. Critical thinking skills are in short supply these days.
