Immigration Bills Stir Opposition

The store fronts testify to an integral and economic piece of the Tulsa puzzle, but legal or not, many local Hispanics are feeling harassed by Oklahoma legislators.

"It's a harassment, and I think they're being racist," said Irma Ramirez, who was in this country for 20 years before getting her citizenship.

Do you have undocumented friends and are they worried? "Oh yeah, of course, I do have, and they're very worried, they're even afraid to go out, even to go shopping because they're afraid of being deported," she said.

The legislative session began this year with some 30 bills aimed at illegals. That's been whittled down to a potent handful, proposing everything from seizing property to denying in-state tuition.

"These undocumented people do pay taxes," said Tina Pena, trying to tackle anti-illegal arguments one by one.

"When we go to Walmart we don't say, 'Hold my taxes I'm undocumented,'" she said.

"I think part of the conservative ethic is that we need to be pragmatic, we need to look at dollars and cents," said pastor Leonard Busch, saying that the economics favor illegals.

"There's a larger contribution to the economy, then there is a drain on the economy.

But economics aside, the bigger picture is the bulls eye many Hispanics feel painted on their backs, even if they are legal.

"The system doesn't work," said Pena.

"These undocumented people do pay taxes," I do not call paying a forced sales tax on par with paying federal taxes. They cannot get around not paying sales tax

"These undocumented people do pay taxes,"

They do a lot more than that:

Gwinnett County, Georgia is experiencing an illegal alien crime wave

What follows is a list of the most serious crimes with which those illegal aliens were charged:
-Felony drug charges…321

-Rape…31

-Child molestation…61

-Other sex crimes…40

-DUI…627

-Aggravated assault…97

-Robbery…49

-Battery…222

-Murder…5

I am so sick of these Mexican fascists who think they are above the laws of the United States.

What criminals don’t pay taxes?

As far as racial profiling goes, lots of gringos who travel abroad are killed, raped, jailed and bribed all the time just for being white.

Illegals in this country are treated with kid gloves compared to most foreigners travelling illegally abroad.

If I go abroad without a visa and passport, I know for a fact I am going to jail and deported at my own expense.

"There's a larger contribution to the economy, then there is a drain on the economy.

Simply untrue. The average illegal alien - AVERAGE, mind you - takes OUT $18,000 more every single year in education, healthcare, and social services, than they "contribute" in taxes. The total NET cost to state and Federal governments each year is $113 billion.

That is pure BS. They are costing far more than they contribute.

They are first in line to claim the EITC. No SSN needed. A Tax ID will do just fine.

Not long ago they uncovered a ring of Illegals in Alabama that were falsifying tax docs and claiming multiple EITCs for themselves.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE EARNED INCOME CREDIT?

Single or married people who worked full time or part time at some point in 2010 can qualify for the EITC/EIC under the following guidelines:

* Workers who were raising one child in their home and had family income of less than $35,535 ($40,545 for married workers) in 2010 can get an EITC/EIC of up to $3,050.
* Workers who were raising two children in their home and had family income of less than $40,363 ($45,373 for married workers) can get an EITC/EIC of $5,036.
* Workers who were raising three or more children in their home and had family income of less than $43,352 ($48,362 for married workers) can get an EITC/EIC of up to $5,666.
* Workers who were not raising children in their home and had income below $13,460 ($18,470 for married workers) can get an EITC/EIC of up to $457.

“many local Hispanics are feeling harassed by Oklahoma legislators”

O.K., move back to Meh-he-co.

We’ll count it as a win-win.
