High School graduation rates for Hispanics are dismal. Along the Texas-Mexico border they are the worst in the state and nation.

With respect to education and its impact upon our future economy, depressing stuff to read. "Steve Murdock, a former U.S. Census Bureau director and past state demographer . . . often says that if the state does nothing to change the education system, the average Texas household in 2040 would be at least $6,500 poorer than it was in 2000 and about 30 percent of workers will not have a high-school diploma."

And again, there’s nothing that anyone can do about school students who do not value their education enough to be bothered to complete it. Schools should simply focus on the students who do want to learn, and do everything they can to help those students excel.

Why go to school when you can make $500 a week with a lawn mower. Hor-a-Le Chingasos!

The article doesn’t mention the elephant in the room - how many of the Hispanic students are illegal aliens or born here to illegal alien parents.

Murdock is a fool. Changing the school system won’t change the mentality of these people. Government schools are a pestilence, but even a free education at Andover wouldn’t motivate these people. Third world cultures are “third world” for a reason. This is one of them, and it also illustrates why we need to bid our illegals, including their anchor babies, a fond farewell.

That’s the downside. Muslims infiltarting Mexico and coming here. They may be doing just that in Canada.

We will need a national Reconquista to get rid of the Islamics and CAIR is probably a good place to start - all legally, of course.

Not only are we headed to 3rd world status, we are PAYING for it to happen. A blind eye to saving a buck but having cheap maids and landscapers do things we should do ourselves all the while teaching our children it is okay even if illegal to pay cash.

I look around our upper middle class neighborhood and see parents using illegal labor to clean their homes and have yard of the month not realizing they are just ruining their kids future by not teaching them how to do these chores but ruining their own children’s future...and theirs also. I tried expressing my thoughts on illegals and they rolled their eyes. Their whole life is a bartering system and they “live well” doing so. This is repeated millions of times just in Texas. It’s too hard to do as our household does—demand that anything done in our home is done by legal help or ourselves. There are ways.

Watch out if you have to go to a convenience store on a Friday afternoon as the illegals are loading up on their 24 pack of cheap beer...

If state and local governments were not so pro-illegal, they could make a fortune in fines by hiring Hispanic actors and actresses to participate in sting operations to nail people who want to hire illegals. Cut off the demand for illegal workers, and that will help cut off the supply.

True. I think it was in TX where the legislature wanted to fine companies hiring illegals but not fine homes using maids and landscapers who are illegal. Stupid IMHO. They are paid cash and sponge off the welfare and health care systems so we are getting a double whammy.

Cleaning the house and mowing the lawn burns calories and many need to do these tasks themselves and shuck a few pounds instead of wishing they could get on the biggest loser show....oh, gotta get going to clean my house!

The end result is that Texas will flip blue and morph into a LaRaza colony. Lose Texas and winning the White House is virtually impossible.

The minorities combined have been the majority in Texas K-12 schools for a number of years now. Now one of the minorities, Hispanic, has become the majority by themselves.

So basically Americans ARE lazy and the illegals will do jobs that Americans won’t? If so, whose fault is that?
