While Obama searches for clarity, we're plunged into another war

John Kass

March 23, 2011

President Barack Obama unmasked himself Tuesday.

He was in El Salvador, standing with Salvadoran President Mauricio Funes, when reporters asked him about his war in Libya.

It is indeed his war. He started it. He gave the order to launch the missiles over the weekend. And now the man who ran for president as an anti-war candidate owns his very own war.

But there has been confusion over which member of his coalition will command the war. Will Obama ask a foreign general to direct American troops? Will President Nicolas Sarkozy of France take the coalition lead?

"When the president returns to the U.S. on Wednesday, and if his teleprompter is working, he'll put on a blue suit and a red tie and a white shirt and look quite presidential."

"And he won't look anything like the back bencher in the Illinois Legislature who never confronted power and spent his entire career accommodating the bosses so he could climb the political ladder."

“WASHINGTON — President Obama returns home to Chicago on April 14 for a Democratic National Committee event, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned. Major donors and fund-raisers will be asked to re-create the massive fund-raising machine they launched in 2008 that bankrolled Obama’s presidential bid.” http://www.suntimes.com/news

Gee, will code pink and the Left be protesting Obama when he is in Chicago?

“Someone please help me sort out the proper Progressive truth.

Colonel Gadhafi is one of the great warriors of Third-World liberation from Amerikkan imperialism, is he not? Did something change while I wasn’t paying attention? Did he not launch the glorious airstrike against the capitalist airliner, filled with racist and sexist white supremacists?

Meanwhile, I thought that His Excellency the First Black President is a champion of the struggling masses worldwide.
Ahh, I remember his fine speech in Cairo when he apologized to the Muslims. It was a great moment for Progressivism.

But now he cooperates with the French?

Yes, they are known to be Progressive, but they still must atone for all the damage they did as a colonial power in North Africa. And now Glorious Leader orders air strikes on our Libyan brothers and sisters?

The only explanation I can think of, stretched as it may be, is that the rebels in Libya are even more Progressive than the existing regime. Do they hate the bastions of reactionary racism even more than Gadhafi?

My head is exploding.”

How can one search for clarity when one’s head is utterly ENSCONCED within the confines of one’s anal cavity?

Libya was the French sandbox playground for years. What the hell are we doing there?

The leader of a party whose members were against the Iraq war primarily because "they didn't attack us."

No US boots on the Libyan ground: US Commander
Washington, Mar 22 (PTI)

There are no American troops on the ground in Libya, a top US commander in charge of the current military operation has said.

“There are no American boots on the ground from this coalition,” Gen Carter Ham, Commander of US Africa Command, told Pentagon reporters during a briefing on the operations in Libya.

Marines on ground in Libya

Jody Brown - OneNewsNow - 3/23/2011 10:00:00
MarinesAn ABC affiliate in North Carolina says more than 2,000 U.S. Marines are on the ground in Libya.

WCTI-TV in New Bern reports those Marines, assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) at Camp Lejuene, are “preserving the sanctity of the city [of Ajdubiyah] and the safety of the civilians within it.”

Capt. Timothy Patrick with the 26th MEU told the station: “In Libya right now they are doing exactly what we need them to do. They are doing what they are told, and right now that’s protecting Libyan people against Qadhafi forces.”

Evidently the Marines’ efforts are being successful. The commanding officer of the 26th MEU, Col. Mark Desens, says that following a second round of strikes by AV-8B Harrier jets, the Libyan dictator’s forces “are now less capable of threatening the town than before.”

According to the report, the 2,200 Marines with the 26th MEU are nearing the end of their deployment in the Mediterranean area and are due to be replaced with Marines from the 22nd MEU out of Camp Lejeune. A March 7 notice from the commanding officer of the 22nd MEU says that unit was being deployed to the Mediterranean Sea earlier than previously planned.

Commanding Officer Update

7 March 2011

22d MEU to deploy as the II Marine Expeditionary Force Global Response Force

Family and Friends of 22d MEU,
In order to maintain a constant presence in the Mediterranean Sea, the Marines and Sailors of the 22d MEU have been called upon to deploy earlier than previously planned. Within a few weeks, we will depart for the Mediterranean Sea in order to relieve the 26th MEU who is already there. I ask that families remain flexible as we execute our mission.
