PEARL, Miss. -- Police are investigating a jewelry store shooting that killed a man and injured another in Pearl, said Lt. Butch Townsend.
Pearl police said the shooting occurred during a robbery attempt at Gold and Silver Extravaganza on Highway 80.
Both suspects are male, dressed as females, Townsend said.
Townsend said the duo entered the store and tried to rob the employees shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The individuals came heavily armed. They had several weapons, Townsend said.
Police said the store manager pulled out his own weapon and fired first, killing one of the men and critically injuring the other. Investigators said the men managed to get off a shot, but only grazed the manager.
Authorities said the incident was the second robbery attempt at the store.
We believe at least one of these individuals was the one who entered the (store) two weeks ago and attempted to rob the business, Townsend said.
Police said they believe one of the men returned with a friend to try to complete the job using the same disguise.
They were dressed as women, complete with wigs, painted fingernails, ladies undergarments and hospital scrubs, Townsend said.
Police said the two were driving a burgundy car, which investigators said they believe was used in the last robbery attempt.
Pearl resident Heather Lisk said shes concerned by the violence, but she thinks the manager had no choice but to use his gun.
(The manager) had to defend himself and his employee. He did the right thing, Lisk said.

Good shooting!
Headline fail!
Perhaps:
“Armed robbery stopped by store owner; 1 dead, 1 wounded”
That’s what I call a specialty store. (Of course, my godfather was a navel surgeon.)
Dang, dangus, these doctors are getting more and more specialized all the time! First I've ever heard of a surgeon who only operates on belly buttons ;-)
The injured robber was critically injured. I hope critically enough that he’ll think twice about ever doing that again.
LADIES undergarments? They were wearing hospital (PANTS) scrubs!
*snort*
Guatemalan, Arnoldo Villafuerte, age 26, injured by gun fire in the attempt, remains in very critical condition at University Medical Center and has undergone surgery to remove part of his skull to relieve brain swelling and bleeding, a release from PPD stated.
Honduran, Alex Vivas, age 33, was killed at the scene by the manager of the business, the release continued.
I’m glad to see that the manager exercised excellent gun control. If similar circumstances ever arise, I hope that my aim is just as good.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. My only regret is the amount of resources that our government will pour into keeping the other worthless heap of dung alive.

Military and police carry weapons. Civilians carry firearms. Reporter got that wrong, I think, hey hey?
Isn’t one of you perverts going to make a Pearl Necklace joke?
;-)
If the punk survives he would be charged with murder.
One was from Honduras and the other from Guatemala.
Haley has no intention of cracking down on illegals if it will cost him votes in the national election. Every cop in Mississippi knows that Latino criminal gangs are operating out of Pearl, but the Rinos in Mississippi won’t do anything.
“LADIES undergarments? They were wearing hospital (PANTS) scrubs!”
It’s called “method acting”. If you can feel the part of a woman, you will be able to portray a woman. Likewise, now that one of them is “wearing” a bullet, he will now be able to portray a corpse...
..entered the (store) two weeks ago and attempted to rob...

He should have followed that age old advice...
“If at first you don’t succeed, try the outfield”.
