Prior to the U.S. air strikes, top officials in Washington had reason to doubt that any Aug. 4 attack by North Vietnam had occurred. Herrick, referred to “freak weather effects,” “almost total darkness” and an “overeager sonarman” who “was hearing ship’s own propeller beat...

Every time PotUS successfully bull shits us, and the checks and balances fail. Used to be kinda a tough play, now its sorta easy. Seems like, "Just do it" is all it takes.

LBJ owned Brown and Root shares...

LBJ didn't own squat, outside of a hard-on.

Ladybird owned the Brown & Root shares...and she wasn't about to share the proceeds with Lyndon.

Wait. This article pretends that the North Vietnamese were somehow innocent victims. Apparently the authors forgot to mention that the NVA had been supporting the Viet Cong’s campaign of terror against civilians. Sort of puts things in a different light when you mention that the NVA were murderers of South Vietnamese for many years.

True that. USS Princeton made two trips to Vietnam to take in helicopters. In February 1962, we took in a squadron of Army “Flying Banana” Piasecki helicopters. In April 1962, we took in Marine Squadron HMR-362, flying Sikorsky HUS helicopters.

That’s right - I said 1962. AND, after we were relieved by the Valley Forge, we circled Okinawa for rdays, with another squadron (believe it was HMR-361)and a BLT(Reinf) rotating back to the States. The circling was to decide - home or Hanoi. Too bad we came home. We had at least nine carriers, multiple squadrons and a Marine division at the ready.

So communists don’t lie?

In spite of what folks think of the circumstances, the spread of communism was and is a bad thing and worth fighting.
