Obama Wags the Dog

What is this really about?

As the price of oil skyrockets, as our debt levels rise to new highs and our housing market drops to new lows, President Obama decides that it is a fantastic time to start dropping bombs on Libya. Nobody, including Obama, seems to know what our objective is in Libya. First, it was deposing terroristic thug Muammar Qaddafi; then it was standing up for the United Nations; then it was protecting civilians; now it is some combination of all of them. This is the same man who once explained with regard to Middle East policy, "I can tell you this -- when I am president of the United States, the American people and the world will always know where I stand." Now, finding where Obama stands is tougher than finding a cane-less Waldo in a crowd of Christmas elves.

Meanwhile, the international community floats aimlessly through Obama's sea of foreign policy vagary. For a community organizer, Obama sure has trouble organizing the international community. Perhaps that's because even he doesn't know why we're in Libya.

One matter is crystal clear, however: we're certainly not in Libya for the reasons Obama has articulated.

Let's not deceive ourselves into believing that Obama has become an ardent advocate of Muslim freedom -- only a few short years ago, he was badmouthing President Bush's campaign in Iraq, ignoring Iranian pleas for freedom from the mullahs, and sending ambassadors to parlay with Hamas.

Let's not pretend, either, that America has serious interests at stake in Libya -- we don't. The rebels are backed by al-Qaida, the same people we're supposed to be fighting. Obama criticized the Iraq War for taking our eye off the ball with regard to al-Qaida; now, he's not merely taking our eye off the ball, but he's throwing the game to al-Qaida. Muammar Qaddafi deserves to lose his head, but America doesn't deserve a Libya run by an even worse foe. As for the U.N., we had more allies and more U.N. support for the war in Iraq, which Obama opposed.

As for Obama's contention that he wants to protect Libyan civilians, that also rings false. After all, the best way to protect Libyan civilians is to put highly trained allied troops on the ground in Libya -- as Obama himself has acknowledged. Back in 2007, Obama criticized President Bush's Afghanistan military policy for lack of boots, stating that the U.S. needed to "get the job done ... [which] requires us to have enough troops that we're not just air raiding villages and killing civilians."

So what's this really about? President Obama's war of choice in Libya is, very simply, a wag the dog scenario.

For months now, Obama has remained a non-entity on the Muslim uprisings rocking the Middle East. He has voted present, when in fact he isn't even present. Over the past few weeks, his non-action has begun to affect his public image. No longer is he considered cool -- now he's considered removed and distant. Obama has become Japan's last emperor, hiding behind his title and his advisers while performing ceremonial duties -- and the public has caught on. America knows, in short, that Obama is weak.

So Obama chose this moment to forge forth in a show of strength. Emphasis on the word "show."

Obama has explained that this intervention will take days, not weeks; he has backed down from his original aims; he has attempted to shirk leadership, handing it off to the Europeans (who want no part of it). All of this would seem to imply that he didn't want to be involved. But he chose to become involved in the first place, knowing full well that America could be supporting those who hope to murder us.

There's only one reason for that: he wants to distract the American public from the fact that the Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz is an insecure little man behind a media curtain. Obama is wagging the dog not to misdirect attention from a sex scandal, but in order to focus attention on his supposed brawn.

None of it is real. Once again, the military is being used by a Democrat as a political tool to curry favor with the hawkish American public. The American public is being manipulated by a Democrat, once again, because we support the men and women in harm's way. The war in Libya as Obama has organized it is a sham, a fraud and a disgrace.

Much of what the author states appears to apply to Afghanistan also.

We should have gotten involved much earlier, when the rebels controlled more of Libya and the oil and gas fields were as yet undamaged.

Our objective should have been to secure the oil and gas fields, remove Obama from power, and turn over control of Libya to the Libyan rebels, and then LEAVE.

We should get the heck out of Afghanistan as soon as possible. There is no “victory” to be secured there and there is no way to make a purse out of a sow’s ear and convert a 6th century population mired in Islam into 21st Century democrats.

In dealing with hostile Islamic states militarily, our strategy should be to use immediate and overwhelming military force to destroy their military and infrastructure, which our superior technology allows, and THEN PULL OUT. Message delivered. That will keep our casualties low, the costs low and keep our military poised to strike somewhere else should it need to. It will also free them up to defend our borders where they are desperately needed.

What is this really about?

Let's see...

Q: Is it about looking after America's interests and helping downtrodden Libyans?

A: No. Obama doing something good for America?!? Please...

Q: Is it about Obama trying to boost his popularity?

A: Probably not. I'm sure he wants to be popular, but that hasn't always been his biggest concern.

Q: Is it about Obama replacing a scumbag dictator with something even worse?

A: Bingo. Obama always goes against American interests and always supports what is best for "radical" (normal) Islam. I think it's becoming clear that Obama is hoping for a new caliphate. Hence he supports a war that is also supported by Al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Conspiracy hat firmly in place: Could it be that Obama is just helping those calling for the mahdi and the caliphate by removing obstacles in the middle east? Take out an Israel friendly Mubarak. Help remove a thorn in everyone’s side in Qadafi. Help the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda gain a little more control in each one of those countries. Not to mention our deteriorating relationship with Saudi Arabia.

I don’t know what it is, but something about Egypt and Libya does not add up. Why stand on the sideline for some conflicts and get involved in others. What is the end game - in other words, what ends justify the means?

He is wagging the dog but he and his administration are upholding the muslim brotherhood as replacements for the leaders in conflict. So it is twofold. The fact that the media are defending him is beyond frightening.

I couldn’t agree more.

The question that remains is, what do we do about it now?

If left unchecked, can our country really afford two more years of this corrupt and cowardly incompetence?

At this rate, America will be toast in two years. The United States is being set up for the greatest hit in the history of the world. We’re in the early stages of the attack. We’re entering the Perfect Storm.

I think you're right to have your conspiracy hat firmly in place. I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist either, but we've never seen anything like Obama before, and virtually anything is possible with him.

At any rate, all of Obama's actions so far have made a caliphate more likely, and he has sent off many signals (that the Muslim world would understand but not the average American) that he is Muslim. He could very well be Muslim, or he could just be sending off those signals to gain the support of Muslims.

It all boils down to one thing: who exactly is Barack Obama?

Is he just some ultra-liberal who, like other ultra-libs, hates the United States? Is he a Muslim taking down America from the inside? Does he wanna be a fascist dictator? Who knows? Calling his past very murky is an understatement, and much of his past suggests that he isn't doing this alone? Is he a mole, or is he just doing this by himself? If he is backed by others, then who? Soros? The Saudis?

That holds the key to what his end-game is. He could very well just plan on leaving office peacefully, spending the rest of his life golfing and eating ice cream. But it's been suggested he has a few other plans. Does he plan on being the caliph? Does he plan on being America's dictator? Does he plan on becoming UN secretary general/world dictator? How many countries would strongly oppose him? Liberals like him, Muslims like him, and maybe he could gain the support of China by helping and allowing them to do what they do. Who knows?

The next few years will be interesting.

Back when New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey was on the verge of being indicted for various crimes I predicted that his way out of the mess would be to stop denying all of the swirling rumors over his sexual orientation, because the resulting cultural panic would make people completely forget about the bribery and corruption.

McGreevey did my prediction one better by announcing at a press conference that “His truth was that he was a Gay American”. Brilliant! The man never served a day in jail.

I gotta suspect that people are thinking along similar lines in the Obama White House right now. Things are just going to keep on getting worse, because Obama has dug a hole from which there is no digging out. Libya is the cherry on top of the sh!t sundae of his own creation. So, what is a President to do?

Simple. Stop denying the Birther rumors. Admit that you are not a native-born citizen. The resulting Constitutional crisis would make everybody completely forget about everything else. Obama can be hounded out of office with his head held high and the idiots on the Left can talk for another fifty years about how great a President he might have been...

My prediction is that somewhere in the basement of the White House, people are trying to concoct an innocent explaination of how Obama could run for President without realizing that he is Constitutionally ineligible. I’m guessing that Momma is about to go under the bus. Of course, her deception would have come out of a mother’s earnest desire for her child to have a better life as an American citizen, so maybe she doesn’t have to go under the bus at all.
