THE WOODLANDS, Texas A paid obituary for a Houston-area man who died of cancer recently urged mourners to, in lieu of flowers, "please make a donation to ANYONE running against" President Barack Obama.
....[James] Harrison was a retired food-service worker. John Rundlof, his stepson, told KRIV-TV of Houston that Harrison "was an avid Republican and just took that to the grave with him." Rundlof said Harrison wrote the appeal for donations to Obama opponents himself before he died.

I wonder if this is a way to keep the Westboro Baptist Church away from your funeral? Something tells me the answer to that would be "no."
“.[James] Harrison was a retired food-service worker. “
Send this to the MSNBC Leftists who think only “the rich” are conservatives.
God Love you, Mr. Harrison!
LOL! God love you, Mr. Harrison.
Unfortunately, I can see dem relatives and friends doing just the opposite.
This is great, thanks.
WOW, I’m impressed by this man’s obituary. I’ve never seen anything like it before...
I think this is tacky, regardless of the man’s political persuasion.
“I think this is tacky...”
Not necessarily. Perhaps he was the type of person very, very involved in politics. I have read obituaries stating ... in lieu of flowers donate to animal rescues/environmental organizations/soup kitchens/missionary groups etc... It involved a passion that the person was involved with when they were alive. Just a thought.
Yeah, that’s a great thing to put in an obit. It seems like every few months there is someone doing this. I’ve seen it going back to some dingbat asking for people to donate to Democrats in 96.
How about I don’t do either and save my money?
In lieu of flowers, comfort the family.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s got every right to do it, but I have friends and relatives on both sides of the political spectrum, so I wouldn’t want to put some in an uncomfortable position by doing such a thing.
Well, he knew he wouldn't be here to fight the good fight, so he gave it his last shot.
Can we still say "shot?"
Ohhh, LOL. That made my day ((BIG SMILE)).
Oh, I understand. If I had a friend die and they asked for donations TO Obama, I would pick something else like research for the disease/condition they died from or an animal rescue league if they liked animals. Perhaps, he would have preferred that donation over any other kind. His family and friends could either do it or choose to ignore it. Chances are if they are family and friends... they aren’t surprised by his request and probably are joking about it.
His friends and relatives most likely knew his political leanings anyway.
If this is what the deceased wanted, then good for him : He had a right to make this request of his family, and they did right to honor the request (Yes, I would say the same thing if Jim had been a Democrat asking for donations to BHO in 2012.)
He’s dead. I don’t think he cares what you think.
Not trying to be obnoxious, just stating the facts.
