MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Marquette University in Milwaukee will begin offering domestic partner benefits to its employees beginning next year.

The move by the Catholic, Jesuit university comes about a year after the school rescinded a job offer to a lesbian and scholar at Seattle University. Marquette officials said at the time, rescinding the job offer to Jodi O'Brien had nothing to do with her sexual orientation. But, it triggered heated debate on campus over the issue.

The Jebbies have had huge problems abrewing since the 1920’s. The problem is, they are an order and fall under their Superior General, better known as the “black pope”. So they don’t have to listen to any local authority (bishop) or for that matter, conference of bishops. I’m sorry, but imho the Pope shouldda stepped all over these semi-heretics long ago. I’m amazed at the disobediance this order allows and how it protects its own. Can you tell I have no use for this Order! :)

Could I please encourage you to edit the title to say “Catholic university” instead of “Catholic University”? Catholic University is a real school in Washington, DC, and is not the subject of this article.

They should have been excommunicated 300 years ago. That's the Catholic Church's fault for chartering so many orders.

Ironically, the Jesuits were originally founded with military-style obedience to the Pope and loyalty to Catholic doctrine, and the Jesuit order truly was one of giants.

Obviously they've gone off the rails in the hundreds of years since then, but it's hard to take seriously a claim that they shouldn't have been chartered in the first place.

Wondering how much longer Catholic leadership is going to allow so called Catholic Universities to receive funding?

Marquette doesn't receive any money from the church AFAIK.

“For sure anybody that supports this kind of thing, simply does not have the Spirit of The Lord Jesus Christ within them!
This is not even debatable!”

AMEN! They are not followers of The JESUS CHRIST of The Holy Bible!

“Ye shall know them by their FRUIT.” (MATT 7:16)

“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” (PROV 29:18)

Do they offer benefits to opposite sex unmarried couples as well? What about roommates? How do they draw the line?

My brother said his Jesuit education could be distilled in one sentence, uttered by his quite disturbed theology professor at Boston College: “Masturbation is out of hand.”

I wonder how long until this university will no longer be called “Catholic?”

The question is how much longer the Church will allow Marquette to pretend that it is a Catholic school.

I am not Catholic but my husband’s family has many nuns and priets in his family and none of them were hiding because they were homosexual, they professed a calling on their lives.

They need to change their name at least. I suggest Catamite University.

Not if you judge by results and not by intent. I heard a guy tell me the same thing about the Constitution and I didn't have an argument for him. I still don't.

Any way, that's not the canonical way to structure the Church. It's supposed to be everyone answers to their geographical Bishop, and the Bishops through their orthodoxy stay in communion with each other through the Patriarch.

You set up parallel hierarchies and you're asking for this kind of heterodoxy through independence. You don't see this kind of heterodoxy in the Eastern Orthodox Church because they don't do this kind of structure.

You get two choices of Rules of Order in the Orthodox Church- the Rule of St. Basil or the Rule of St. Benedict. Take it or take it elsewhere.

The Jesuits were infiltrated by sodomites a long time ago. The time has come to purge them and Catholic Universities of these destroyers and the secularists.

“Do they offer benefits to opposite sex unmarried couples as well?”

They do at Georgetown, and they will at Marquette. I don’t know about other schools.
